Summary
She and Dick stare at each other as they wait for their drinks, heat building between them with every passing second.
After a few minutes, the bartender puts their drinks on front of them. She and Dick pick up the shots of tequila, look at each other, and then knock them down.
As the tequila burns her throat and makes it’s way down, a torrent of memories hits Kory. And by the look Dicks giving her, he’s relieving the exact same memories.

Kory touches his arm. “It’s time for us to go.”
Dick turns and looks at her; she's looking at him sadly. He swallows a lump on his throat and nods. He turns back to his kids.
“You guys are going to have so much fun,” he tells them, voice breaking a bit. He turns back to Kory. “You have the camera right? You’re sure it’s in the bag?”

Kory takes Jake and Mar'i to visit Tamaran for two and a half months. But Dick, unable to survive on Tamaran, has to stay on Earth, where he tries to cope with missing his family. -

“I am gonna sneak up on you,” Kory insists.
“Why set yourself up for disappointment?” Dick teases. “No one can sneak up on me. Not even a warrior alien princess.”
Kory presses her chest up against his. “Oh yeah?”
“Yeah,” Dick says hotly, bringing his hand to the small of her back, and pushing her flush against him.
“I’m gonna prove you wrong,” Kory vows, heat pooling in her stomach.

He can’t wait to see her reaction when he walks in. The way her mouth will drop for only a second before her face will light up in that beautiful big smile of hers. She’ll probably run into his arms, and then he’ll pick her up and she’ll wrap her legs around him. She’ll kiss him passionately and he’ll smile into the kiss. If Tim is smart, he’ll make himself scarce. Dick will then carry her to their room and take her to bed.
God, it’s been so long.
Dick has to stop himself from running from his car to the elevator. The whole elevator ride probably takes only 20 seconds, but it feels like forever. As soon as he steps out of the elevator, he looks around the common room for Kory. But she's not there. He sets his bag on the table and walks further into the room.

It's two weeks since their return when Dick wakes up without Kory in his arms, without Kory in their bed, for the first time. He opens his eyes and is immediately struck by her absence. He looks in confusion at the empty spot in the bed for only a few seconds before the panic starts to come in.
Where is she? Where is she? Where is she? Why isn't she here? Is she gone? Was it all a dream? Is she gone? Is she gone? Is she gone?
He whips his head and looks around the room frantically, but she's not here.
"Kory?" he calls out, panicked.

Dick’s had enough of this, enough of the talking. He’s just about to charge and strike when Jason says something that stops him cold.

“Kory?” he asks, concerned. She slowly turns her head to look at him.

Once they all finish checking out and appreciating newly upgraded RV, they hit the road. Kory, as she always is, sits beside him in the passenger seat. As he drives, Dick takes glances at her.
She’s deep in thought, brows slightly furrowed. After a few moments, she turns to look at him. He was already looking at her, and he can feel a slight blush form on his cheeks at getting caught staring.
“Is Conner okay?”

He finally finally gets in. Now he can finally do something to help Conner. He clicks on one of the files and what he sees makes his blood run cold. And all thoughts of Conner disappear from his mind.

Once he pulls away, he rubs his nose against hers. Kory can’t help but let out a giggle. Dick’s face lights up even more, clearly delighted.
“Never heard that sound from you before,” he remarks in awe.
