Scar should've hung up. It was bad enough he'd actually called. He should've lied, should've said it was a misdial and pretended to be okay. He should've done a hundred things and he did the one thing he shouldn't, because despite everything that happened between them, Scar felt safest with the one who hurt him. He said, a trembling whisper, "No."

Curiosity gets the best of him as he finds a way to figure out the hero in full, leading him to more realizations than just one.

OR Grian as a Watcher disguised as a human working at a café, Lizzie as an angel with a ridiculous crush on his friend Joel, Pearl as a ghost who loves scaring his human friends, and Scar as a mischievous demon who Grian's trying to keep out of trouble. Oh, also Jellie as a demon cat that literally eats souls!

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”
