Is he implying that he stays the night? No, obviously he is. But theres something else behind his tone, something Phainon can't quite decipher, yet he can still feel it. Phainon's heart beats a little faster in his chest. He doesn't even think to confirm with his mother before blurting out his response. "Yes. I mean, yes, I'll stay over!"
During summer break, Mydei is left with the house all to himself for the week.

Phainon ran a hand underneath the shirt Mydei was wearing, looking at it closely. “Is this my shirt?” He asked, tilting his head to the side.
Mydei nodded, wrapping his arms around the back of Phainon’s neck. “I missed you,” He murmured quietly, pulling Phainon close to press a kiss to his lips.
“You didn’t even bother to put shorts on, Mydei?” Phainon asked, teasing. “You wanted to seduce me that badly?”
Mydei groaned, rolling his eyes. “You’re not wearing a shirt. We’re practically even.”
Phainon chuckled softly, “Fair enough.”

No one should be that in love with the idea of a dead nation or its erstwhile—and also dead—King.”

Phainon lives on in hopes of meeting Mydei again. After hundreds of years of waiting, he finds Mydei as a stray cat. They live happily together, but their happiness is short-lived, cut short when Mydei passes away unexpectedly.
Years later, Phainon opens an academic library, hoping to catch a glimpse of Mydei again, but terrified that doing so would spell Mydei's demise. But some things are inescapable, bound together by fate. And Phainon learns that some curses are made to be broken.

As soon as Phainon stepped foot into the garden, his eyes immediately zeroed on Mydei sitting in the sea of bright flowers. His parents were beside him, quietly talking to each other.
Phainon’s breath hitched but before he could walk away and try another day, Beagle Coconut broke away from the mini chimera formation at Phainon’s legs with an excited shriek as soon as it spotted Fig Stew sleeping near Mydei. It barreled into the poor creature, talking a mile per minute and ignoring Fig Stew’s sleepy hissing and bristling fur. Beagle Coconut’s blue eyes sparkled like two little stars as it relayed everything that happened to it in the short time they were separated.
Phainon felt himself die a little inside. Was that how he acted when he was away from Mydei for a few days?
a strange curse had befallen the newly restored Amphoreus causing all of her people to wake up with breathing, living manifestations of their emotions. Phainon tries to deal with it the best way he can but it's hard, not only because he, for some reason, has three manifestations but also because now he has no choice but to face the true emotions of people closest to him. specifically... Mydei's.

Summary
Mydei’s throat suddenly feels dry when he notices his own reflection.
He lived it, he knows what is happening. And still, it’s a different experience to witness the terror so evident on his twelve-year-old face. His body is littered with injuries, gold smeared everywhere. Blond hair matted against his skull with sweat and blood, snot and tears streaked through his face. The frozen image of him tries to pull away from his captors, the chains of metal shackles pulled taut as he struggles against them.
Mydei feels the phantom tightness around his neck where one of the manacles had been fastened, barely allowing him to breathe.
Phainon and Mydei stand directly between his parents, looming over the miserable image of Mydei in his youth. He forgot how small he used to be, not even reaching their shoulders in his past state.
Phainon's warm palm lands on Mydei’s bare shoulder. “This is too much, we can just—”
Mydei shrugs the hand off himself and activates the shard.
