"It takes me another moment before I realize that I wasn’t hurting from the fall. There’s no struggle to get air back into my lungs. I’ve tumbled end over end, and sort of landed upright. All my limbs are sprawled in every direction.
Rocky skitters down to my level, right up against the xenonite. “Grace fall! Hurt question? Okay okay okay?”
With all my brainpower, I focus on responding. 'Y-ye-es,' I manage to chirp. I freeze. Process.
That was definitely not English. Or any other human language. I didn’t move any muscles to speak.
'Y-ees,' I say again, and the same chirping note comes out. Inside me, I feel the shifting of five gas-filled… things. That note came from me. But it sounded like Rocky."...
In which Grace wakes up as an Eridian. And then a human. Eridian again.
Figuring out how to walk and sing is the first step. The rest will have to come later.

Summary
Aventurine's sordid reputation is well-known throughout the IPC, and he's made no effort to hide it. People coming to him, knowing he'd lend them his body as long as they agree to give up whatever he wanted from them... it makes his job smoother.
Until he lets it slip to Ratio that, despite his active sex life, he's never had any form of sex education.
(Or: Ratio teaches a sex ed lesson that is entirely professional and will not contain any 'demonstrations'. Until it does.)

Summary
The Eridian thrills a high sound that doesn’t get picked up by the translator which means that it has no clear meaning. Like when a human gasps or sucks in a deep breath. It actually sounds a little like that. When they notice that I’m staring straight at them they scramble back into their hiding spot and hold very still.
A child, I realize with a start.
That’s a child!
“Hey,” I call and the kid squeaks again. I was about to get to my feet but abort the movement and crawl closer on my hands and knees until I'm inches away from the xenonite wall. I wait and it takes me much too long to realize that they don’t have to peek around the corner to see if I’m still there.
“Hey there,” I try again, my voice low and calm. It’s my teacher voice, the one I use for shy and scared students.
Used.
The fact that I haven’t had to use it for years and it still comes to me automatically almost knocks the air out of my lungs but this is not about me, it’s about making sure the little pebble doesn’t die of fright from the scary alien. “Hi, I’m Grace. It’s alright, you don’t have to be scared.”
