Summary
Baron Vladimir Harkonnen cited an ancient law that stated due to the rarity of omegas, an eligible alpha—meaning unmarried, unmated, and of the same social class as their intended—had the right to court an eligible omega. This meant that his nephew, the na-Baron Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen, had the right to Paul's attention despite the official and long-standing enmity between House Atreides and House Harkonnen.
The Landsraad discussed it among themselves with all the gravity of a trade dispute or military action.
The alpha had the right, they decided.
Paul's father, in a dark rage and after intense consultation with his Mentat Thufir Hawat, had answered with another ancient law: the alpha would be muzzled.

"I asked if I could see a sandworm," Paul replied.
"They are difficult to kill."
The na-Baron received a frown and an imperiously arched eyebrow from his husband. "To see one, I said. Not to kill it."
"Is that all? Then what's the issue?" Now Feyd-Rautha's attention returned to Liet. "There are plenty of sandworms in the desert. Those sandcrawlers certainly spend enough time avoiding them. My husband wishes to see one."

The upper body of Feyd's sparring partner slumps to the safety of the mat, and Feyd unceremoniously drops the rest of him to the floor, legs deadweight. Feyd spits out a black mouthguard and says, mocking, "Good effort."
Someone hands him a towel. Feyd wicks the sweat from his face, his bare, glistening chest, and then he raises his head and his gaze finds Paul's.

Summary
Paul looks very much like his mother. And the Lady Jessica, the bound-concubine of Duke Leto of Caladan, is renowned throughout the Imperium for her great beauty! It disturbs Leto to know that Paul has also taken after Jessica in this way, that there are men who Leto has known since he was a young man who have aspirations—desires—for his son, now of marriageable age.
Bad enough that the young nobles stare at Paul like a pack of starving wolves at a lost lamb. Now he has to watch his own peers slavering over him as well.
