Summary
Will Byers never made it home after the unassuming night of November 3rd 1983.
Mike wheeler never stopped looking, even after Joyce Byers returned from the upside down without a body and without hope.
Now in 1988, the death toll only grows in Hawkins Indiana. The sick get sicker, the bodies mount higher, and all the while something strange lurks beyond the trees.

Summary
There was a lot of sympathy in the Wizengamot for the small, frightened girl who was on trial. Unfortunately, not enough. The poisoned pen of Rita Skeeter had been telling tales about the spoiled seventh child who thought she was above the rules, who somehow obtained a dark object and took it to Hogwarts, then used it to spread fear and mayhem. There were sympathetic portrayals of the petrified students, some of whom would have months of work to catch up with their cohort. Worst of all, her crush on Harry Potter was proclaimed as the motive for her plot - to be the damsel in distress for her hero to rescue her at the end of the year.
Not even Harry Potter's testimony could save her. Clearly, the boy was still confunded by her act. Not even Albus Dumbledore could save her. He wasn't even at the school when she lured Harry Potter into the Chamber.
Ginny was sentenced to 15 years in Azkaban, she gave her mother a frightened look, then gasped softly as the Dementors drew closer. The mercy of unconsciousness followed almost immediately. The lull of the dark creatures so horrific, her young mind could only fold to it as the black nightmares drew her out of the room in chains.

The Grabber swings open the door and what I see I can barely process. It’s the limp body of another boy. I can’t tell who it is yet, but I don’t dare to move. He walks the boy and gently places him on the bed.
“I thought you might be getting a little lonely.” His voice is cheerful as he looks at me expectantly. The same look a parent gives their child when they open a Christmas present. He wants me to say thank you.

Summary
Mike and Will have been together for a couple of years, even when distance made loving each other difficult. Will lives in Lenora Hills, California. Mike lives in Hawkins, Indiana. Somehow, they make it work.
In the spring of 1990, Will comes home to Hawkins, and like most teens in love, their actions become reckless. By summer, Mike is placed in a position. A pregnant omega whose family head alpha is rejecting his unborn pup.
So Mike runs.
With only some cash, dreams, and clothes that he stole from friends and left behind by Will, he makes his way to California in the hopes of making it to the Byers' residence before his baby is born. Mike is willing to do everything he can to achieve that dream, because for once he wants to be the one to write the ending of his campaign.
Even though there is a chance that there won't be a single waterfall.

It happened quickly, the kind of quick that you think is impossible until you live it. You hear about abductions, about parents turning away for a split-second and their children disappearing into thin air, and you think they must be justifying their own neglect. Surely, they must have not been watching close enough if someone could steal their kid out from under their nose. Of the two of them, Finney is sure his dad would be glad to see him go. Robin has his mom and his uncle, and he stands tall and stubborn and proud in a way that Finney thinks means he's never gotten hit by someone who was supposed to protect him. He doesn't resent Robin for that. The idea of someone hurting Robin the way his dad hurts Gwen makes Finney see red.
