She startled. The broken, still body of the cat her sister had killed was a familiar brown-and-white..because it was her own. The image warped, and light erupted into her vision, and only after darting upright and hastily looking at her surroundings did she understand. That was a vision of the future. A future where, apparently, she died by the paw of her oldest sister.

This is a rewrite I'm doing out of love for the original which I wrote in 6th grade; the plot still doesn't quite make sense because of that but shhhh. Also after a certain number of chapters I may just go by flashes of memories but we'll see ;D

Summary
Coming back to Hawkins has been difficult, between the gates opening and the government's meddling, there was something else.
Will had to deal with the unfortunate revelation that his powers aren't quite connected to the Upside Down.
Not in any way that makes sense, at least.
Or
The Upside Down was just a small part of what they’d soon realize was a whole network of supernatural phenomena.

Summary
Mike doesn’t say anything. Not at first. Suspended in disbelief, Mike stares down at the weight in his arms, at what was once Will but is now just a body, with wide, unseeing eyes.
And with that realisation, something anguished and animal-like inside Mike tears loose.
This isn’t Will, not anymore.
He screams and screams until his voice gives out, until he’s sobbing soundlessly, shoulders shaking with the force of his tears. Then he hunches over Will’s body and refuses to let anyone take him away from him.
Time drags on, the sun sinking until it disappears behind the horizon. Still, Mike doesn’t let go. It’s only at nightfall, when Mike’s arms have gone numb and he’s trembling from exhaustion, that they manage to pry Will from him.
The sound he makes when Will is lifted from the cradle of his arms is worse than any scream. Mike reaches out instinctively, fingers grasping at the empty air, closing on nothing.
Because there’s nothing left for him to hold.
Will is gone.
Or the fic where Will dies in Mike’s arms…

Summary
Mike remembered flushing and puffing proudly at those words. That’s right, he had earned the right to Will’s nests. He had worked hard for it. He liked being the only one that could have access to the nest without asking. It was theirs, their own thing.
Now, looking at his best friend laughing and joking across the table, he wondered if he still had something to be proud of.
Or: Mike never had to think twice before entering Will’s nest. It changed as they grew up, but Mike was determined to make everything right again.

After Will uses his powers for the first time in the Mac-Z, the entire party knew the game had permanently changed. But what they didn’t know was the consequences this drew. A new psychic link had opened like a door, and now Will and the party must fight against time to stop Vecna in the very place this all started: the Upside Down. Except Mike is the only one who seems to notice. I guess there’s a first for everything.
