Summary
The source of the light stands before him, resplendent and whole, his brows creased prettily in worry. Jayce looks like moonlight incarnate, his body made up of twisting mother-of-pearl tendons from which an eerie bioluminescence emanates. It crawls across his cheekbones like a lover’s caress, the edges where nacre meets skin blurry and indistinct.
A hundred fairytales from Viktor’s childhood flit through his head. The tear of a unicorn. The call of a siren. Jayce looks like every delicate, temptuous thing for which men dash themselves across the rocks in an effort to possess.
He is also, Viktor distantly notes, completely naked.

Summary
A boy scientist. A little discoverer. His parents always admired Viktor's quietness — an attribute necessary for his survival as an outsider — allowing him to observe the world through his curious lenses. Viktor knew how to connect with colleagues, talk to anyone, appear in manuscripts, and support others from afar, but he never made a significant mark, a result of those long years of silent observation. Viktor was an observer, a survivor, prey in the middle of the jungle, and he knew it was smarter to stay in the shadows than to speak aloud, or he would be eaten by a predator.
But Jayce Talis made it so the beast couldn't be contained.

After discovering his idol might be conducting experiments in secret, and unable to have more information about it, Viktor creates a plan to invade Jayce's house to get his hands on it. However, in the middle of his invasion, he's caught by the guards, and has to confront his biggest inspiration, face to face.
