Jim is, in a word, worried. He changed into his dress uniform as soon as he heard they were invited to Spock’s wedding—though what manner of wedding can it be, to a woman he hasn’t seen since childhood? Is Spock hiding away out of reluctance? Bones says that he must go through with this mating for fear of death, and yet Jim cannot help but think that—for Spock, who values duty and science above all things—fear of death may not be a sufficient motivator.

It's all a little bit too much to bear.
Fortunately, Spock is good at bearing the unbearable.
