Summary
Robin hands Steve the bottle and he gives it a good, hard spin. It goes longer than anyone else’s, spinning four times, slowing down, almost stopping on Steve himself, and then landing on the space between Steve and Eddie.
Steve tilts his head, considering where it landed. “Does that mean I have to kiss myself?”
“I’m gonna say that’s Eddie,” Jonathan says. “At least, it looks like Eddie from here.”
Steve’s stomach does a weird swooping thing, like he’s on a rollercoaster. He looks over at Eddie, who is frozen in place, sitting with his legs crossed in front of him. His dark eyes are wide, staring down at the bottle with the neck pointing at him.
Or: Well, well, well, if it isn't the consequences of Eddie's own actions.

Summary
After a moment of this - Eddie, looking, touching, and Steve, melting into an embarrassed puddle - Eddie jerks upwards, abruptly breaking the weird tension (that he didn't even seem aware of) and tumbling off of the bed. He lands on the floor in a pile of limbs with a solid thump. Steve's too baffled to be concerned, and even if he wasn't, this is pretty par for the course for Eddie. It'd be weirder if he went ten minutes without doing something physical and dramatic.
"You good in there?" Robin calls from the room adjacent.
Steve snorts, and he sees Eddie crack a smile against the carpet, breaking character for a moment. "Yeah, Eddie just died."
There's a beat of silence on Robin's end, and then: "Again?"
And Eddie starts cackling.
When everyone survives and the world is no longer ending, there's not much to do but get to know each other.

“Eds…”
And it’s that. That baby bird that falls from the nest, so unaware of what it’s just done.
Eddie opens his eyes then, trying to blink back the sheen of tears that have collected along his waterline again. It doesn’t work. The droplets fall, and when he sees the look on Steve’s face, his heart falls with them.
Steve is standing there, looking aged none. His hair is still brown and has the most subtle curls. His big, doe eyes are calling to Eddie, telling him to come home, even after all this time. Eddie knows he looks like shit. He knows he’s bruised, battered. A broken piece of fine China. He’s sure the black and blue splattered along his eye doesn’t help. Nor does the jarring split in the middle of his lip.
or, eddie returns to hawkins after two years of living in the city, and he finds a lot of things waiting for him. love being the highest on the list.

Steve sighs like he's trying to calm himself down a bit. Though he doesn't look at Eddie, he relaxes just enough to softly explain, "No. No, you didn't do anything..."
OR
Steve has a stressful day at work and takes it out on Eddie. A tic attack ensues.
