Summary
People were bumping into Mike, and he was bumping into them, but he didn't even care. He barely noticed their presence as he fled from the theater. All that mattered was getting away. Far, far, away from Hawkins. The only sound his ears could discern was the faint call from who he thought was Will behind him. His chest tightened even more - but it was the good kind of tight this time - accompanied by panic coiling even tighter around his lungs. His step faltered for a fraction of a second, the idea of turning around and running into Will's warm, gentle arms filling his head and captivating him.
But he knew it was wrong.
So, so wrong.
Mike Wheeler and Will Byers have loved each other forever, but neither will admit it to the other. Vecna has been hiding, Mike was kicked out and has been dealing with the consequences. He isn't doing the best, and he ends up being the perfect target. Will Mikes near death experiences force them to address their mutual feelings for each other? Or will it push them farther apart then ever before?

“You see, programming soldiers–” he cast a pointed look at Bucky, who appeared calm (if you didn’t notice his clenched fists and tightened jaw) “– can be so… difficult. Men are hard to break. A lifetime of walls built up, well versed in pain. Children, however? Ahh, their minds are so frail, so moldable.” Peter flinched as the man brought a hand to stroke across his cheek. “They are so much easier to program.”
Tony stood dead still, white as a sheet, with his mouth open and pleading eyes finding Peter, as if he was wishing for Peter to be a hallucination of his, a bad dream, anything but really in this situation.
“So, when I found out the Avengers had a super powered child, one stronger than both Captain America and the Winter Soldier, with better agility, speed, senses, and the ability to detect danger? Well, how could I pass up such an opportunity?”
