“Fuck shoes.” Jim complains, tugging on the Starfleet issued boots that have sat, unused, by the front door for the last thirty one days.
“I warned you.” Spock replies, carefully making the bed and ascertaining that the room looks as tidy as it had when they had arrived. Neither of them had brought personal belongings along, having been uncertain as to what the Promptian’s study would entail, and knowing they would have easy access to a replicator.
“I thought you were just trying to get me to wear clothes again.” Jim mutters sullenly.

Summary
Kirk would rather be shot by a phaser, actually. He can deal with the impact, the fuzziness of his thoughts as he fights his way through the stun, the inevitable bruises when he stumbles and falls, the blast mark that might last a few weeks and ache under his clothes. That’s a known quantity, that’s a process he’s comfortable with. Spock purring because Kirk called him a good girl is a little much.
