But her first was the one she had (privately) entertained an attraction to his powerful arms and shoulders, ending up being Thorin flipping Oakenshield. Of all the gin joints in all the world - she just had to walk into his.

Summary
Coffee Shop AU! Couldn't find any, so I decided to write it.
Given that it was barely after 7AM, the coffee place was deserted. The woman behind the counter was arranging pastries in front of her, and it took him a second to realize that she was addressing him and asking him what he wanted to order. The chalkboard sign was confusing. He wanted coffee, this he knew with a painful certainty, the child’s complaints against his shoulder only reinforcing that foregone conclusion.
Din has retired from the army after twenty years and decided to adopt an orphan. With no clear idea of what to do next, he goes back to the small town he left behind at 18. He is surprised to find out he has not been forgotten, and even more surprised to realize that the definition of home could very well be a small café.

Din was nineteen and hideously bored when he read his first bodice ripper. He was on his way back from his third-ever mission, the trip was long, and the cover was calling to him.
Din was twenty-two and a true romance novel addict. Audio or text, it didn’t matter, if he had downtime and privacy, that was what he was doing.
Din was thirty-two and an accomplished bounty hunter when he took a job on an Inner Rim planet that paid very well. He should have known it looked too easy to be true. Now, he has to kidnap his favorite romance author and deliver her into the hands of her uninspired competitor. What to do?!

Din reflects after the events of the first season and remembers what he has lost.

But unbeknownst to the Mandalorian tribe, the little foundling is being hunted by a relentless Imperial remnant, headed by a man who will stop at nothing to have him back.
A story where circumstances may have changed, but fate finds a way to draw souls together. An alternative route to the story.
