Summary
Merini is one big happy place and Falin is definitely thrilled to be there. Except there's this meal she had during her time as a chimera. It drives her insane that she can't figure out what the hell it is, even with Senshi's help. She also can't help but to feel a distance growing between herself and everyone else as they manage their new kingdom.
To make matters worse, she's still in love with her best friend, Marcille. And the lingering draconic instincts she has insist that all she needs to do is ravish Marcille senseless to solve her problems.
A sequel to "a moth to a flame" OR one of the many ways I can see the story going.

“What are you doing?!” He hisses. He tries to pull away, but Chad’s hands come up firm on his hips.
“Why don’t you go focus on work, huh? You’re still on the clock.” Chad winks, and then he’s hooking his fingers into the string of Robert’s sweatpants.
He really shouldn’t indulge this behavior. He should stand up, smack Chad upside the head, and then lock himself in the guest room until he’s sure he isn’t about to get groped by his not-boyfriend.
What he does instead is he turns back to his computer and un-mutes his mic.

chad is briefly used as an americanized nickname, but his name is qadir. i tried to do something with alias/civilian name stuff narration wise, so.. uh.. i hope that works, lol. invisigal is briefly mentioned in a benevolent manner but doesnt actually show up. robert's weight is talked about in the sense that he has more of an actual dad-bod and flambae appreciates it

Visi screwed up her face, but did just that. “So, he ever let you, you know?” She gestured to her lap.
Chad’s mouth felt dry. He drained his drink, then set it down. The glass felt a little too soft under his fingers. He knew what she was talking about, but he wasn’t about to take pity on her like that. If she wanted to ask that question, which was none of her fucking business, she needed to actually say it. ”Let me what?”
Courtney huffed, but expanded on her question. “Reciprocate? Do anything beneath the belt?”

It was a kind of pain unlike any other, a deep ache that felt like Robert was being stabbed a hundred times over, radiating all throughout his lower abdomen, a tingling sensation that also spread to his back and down to his legs. “Wait.” Flambae blurted, voice strained.
Robert’s fingers tensed on the channel button, halting his motion. “…yeah?”
The line went quiet for a moment before Flambae made a soft, surrendering sound.
“Fuck.” he borderline whined, and Robert couldn’t help the way his breath caught in his throat.
“...Do you…want help? Or something?” Robert winced, regretting the words as soon as they left his mouth. “The sooner you’re done with…whatever this is, the sooner you can get back out on the field. So—just tell me what you need.”
Another beat of silence and Robert briefly considered taking the offer back, asking Flambae to forget he even said anything. A rough exhale whistled in his ears.
“Talk to me.”

“Oh- oh shit…” Robert dropped to his knees, crawling over him. That’s when he saw them: two bloody holes torn through Flambae’s shoulder and stomach. Bright red blood poured out like a river. Flambae had been shot. A spike of cold punched down Robert’s spine, even though the body under his hands radiated heat.
Or, Flambae took a bullet for Robert (actually, two bullets), despite claiming he’d never do that. They both end up learning a lot about themselves and each other afterward.

The thing about plastic chairs is that they weren't a great substitute for an actual bed; the other thing is, Robert can't exactly afford to be picky and even if he 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 the internal debate is still ongoing as to whether or not he deserves a mattress at this current point in his life.
So, the plastic chair stays and is staying for the foreseeable future. Besides, it's charming - in a depressing, minimalism-that-is-totally-not-a-reflection-of-his-inner-sense-of-worth way.
Or:The fic where Robert has chronic pain and Flambae has warm hands. The two of them will figure out what to do about that eventually, right?
