Loud and unrestrained. From the top of a mountain, their high school rooftop when they all eat lunch, their empty street after everyone’s settled in for the night, and shot straight full speed into the vast cosmic abyss. Overbearing and echoing through the peninsula, the universe as he knows it, and the many many more ahead and undiscovered, until everyone, every last being, sentient or not, knows just how much he feels.

Olruggio wrapped his arms around Qifrey’s waist and pulled him close. He rested his chin on Qifrey’s shoulder, warm and real and solid. Qifrey returned the gesture, his eye sliding shut. He let out a breath. They remained that way for a long while, leaning against each other. This could not ease Qifrey—he’d managed a delicate balance that allowed him to indulge in these small ways while retaining his ever-present fear—but Olruggio’s weight became heavier and heavier as he relaxed into it.
Qifrey could do these things for Olruggio; he could take care of him, though it would never make up for everything that he had done.

A clap of thunder sounds outside, illuminating the bridge with a burst of light, and Olruggio stops. His eyes flash to the window, as if he’s only just noticed the storm, and he goes very still. Then he rounds on them and demands, “How long has it been raining?”
It's storming outside, and Qifrey hasn't come home.

Olruggio watches him leave, observes his heavy gait, his hands, calloused from teaching, and knows that despite his tiredness, he'll leave everything in order for the next five days for the girls, regardless of whether they're perfectly capable of managing on their own or not.
It doesn't matter, it never does. Olruggio will allow himself to fulfill the selfish desire to have Qifrey in his arms, in his—their nest, even if it only happens once every few months.
The warmth of a lover's embrace is difficult to replicate. Olruggio is eager to feel it.

The words are out of his mouth before he can stop them, dripping from his lips like the fresh syrup he’d slathered over his pancakes earlier. And he curses himself as Iwa-chan’s eyes snap open, the bright green specks all but glowing as they reflect the seeping light, Tooru’s heart stuttering, the lump in his throat growing as he inadvertently falls harder for the other.

When caught, Malfoy reacts unlike anything Harry would have guessed and is overcome with the impulse to comfort him.
He didn’t know that in offering sympathy, Draco would take it as Harry being someone he could lean on; someone he could use to attempt to forget that he was outrunning a death sentence - even if it was only for one night.
