It’s taken a while for this development to settle in and there are still some days Tooru has to double check. Feel Iwa-chan’s warm palm press against his own and thread their fingers together, tight and sweet until Tooru doesn’t know where one begins and the other ends. The only urge in his chest to scream. Loud and unrestrained. From the top of a mountain, their high school rooftop when they all eat lunch, their empty street after everyone’s settled in for the night, and shot straight full speed into the vast cosmic abyss. Overbearing and echoing through the peninsula, the universe as he knows it, and the many many more ahead and undiscovered, until everyone, every last being, sentient or not, knows just how much he feels.
In which he loves Iwa-chan a lot.

Olruggio wrapped his arms around Qifrey’s waist and pulled him close. He rested his chin on Qifrey’s shoulder, warm and real and solid. Qifrey returned the gesture, his eye sliding shut. He let out a breath. They remained that way for a long while, leaning against each other. This could not ease Qifrey—he’d managed a delicate balance that allowed him to indulge in these small ways while retaining his ever-present fear—but Olruggio’s weight became heavier and heavier as he relaxed into it.
Qifrey could do these things for Olruggio; he could take care of him, though it would never make up for everything that he had done.

A clap of thunder sounds outside, illuminating the bridge with a burst of light, and Olruggio stops. His eyes flash to the window, as if he’s only just noticed the storm, and he goes very still. Then he rounds on them and demands, “How long has it been raining?”
It's storming outside, and Qifrey hasn't come home.
