His first memory is of the sensation of being spun in a dizzying arc, held securely by the wrists as wet grass blurs underneath him. The heady scent of rain and overblown roses hangs heavy in the warm air, and the sounds ringing up to the cloudy sky are those of his own laughter mingled with his brother’s. He is much too young to be aware of the possibility of slipping, falling, danger. He knows only that his brother’s hands hold him firmly and that Mycroft is the center of the spinning world.

Summary
Character study again: Sherlock is trying to explain why Mycroft was so important in the arrangment of The Fall--trusted even over John. I tried to play this through as the sort of frustrated, confused reaction one could expect during the entire aftermath of the Exile, with John trying to work through his own feelings about Mycroft, as the Fall left him outright furious with the man. I find it hard to believe that finding he's been that far out of the loop would make him feel much better. So Sherlock, who's not at all good at explaining relationships and feelings, at least tries to explain the brother-relationship between them.
There are things I like about this and things I am less fond of. But I like poor Sherlock trying to communicate something that's just plain knobby and complicated and difficult with deep roots.
