Charlie is a Bio-engineered experiment - or Expie - who was given to Amanda Myers as a service animal, for her work in the study of Extraterrestrial-Biology for inhabitable planets across the Milky Way. Life remained steady for them on the farm she inherited on Earth, until she is approved for a Junior analyst position on Pluto Station; the same station that not only is the origin of Charlie's existence, but also orbits the Gray Planet - the same one Amanda has been studying for years - and she brings him along for the journey. From the moment they landed, Charlie would be forcibly doomed to the near impossible assignment: Reclaim a missing piece of important technology, deep in the cavern systems of the Gray Planet, that had mistakenly been sent down with the mountains of trash sent before it. Charlie is merely one of thousands of Expies and other offshoot species sent down for this hopeless effort. Like those before him, he is not expected to survive.
Three variables make him unlike those before:
The first variable is that he's been thoroughly trained by Amanda to survive the most dire situations with the few resources he may find himself with.

Scout C-357-009, the ninth iteration of a highly decorated and successful (and borderline suicidal) line of previous 357 units, was sent to investigate a planetary dumpsite for unusual activity of potential corporate origin. Having just gone through several mind-numbingly uneventful assignments prior, the scout unit believed that this trip to a literal junkyard would just be another boring mission of doing absolutely nothing. There was no context that could have prepared even a well trained n' equipped, bio-engineered, cybernetically-enhanced, one-and-half-year-old generational crashout for what was waiting just below the surface.

The gunslinger fights Flowey with an equal level of Determination. The save file is damaged in the crossfire, and the save system is destroyed.The data corruption sends Clover through the void, all the way back to just outside Mt. Ebott, and also ages the gunslinger as well as the world itself by ten years.
While in the void, he sees fragments of events in the other routes, and a vision of a person he's never met before trapped in a certain laboratory.Burdened by the weight of his sins from his last journey, and armed with a vastly more mature body and mind, the fully grown cowboy decides he has to do things differently this time.

After a tense tram ride where Kanako’s mysterious coma is revealed to be the result of a past experiment gone wrong — orchestrated by her estranged mother, Ceroba — the pair begin rebuilding their lives and strength together.
They spend a day exploring Kanako’s ancestral estate — training in a dojo, practicing magic (Kanako discovers a powerful “solar” flame ability), bonding over shared memories, and confronting emotional ghosts — including Kanako’s grief over her mother’s past and Clover’s guilt over past deaths. Their relationship deepens through vulnerability, humor, and physical intimacy, even as they prepare for danger.
Their journey leads them to track down a violent gang (“the Pinstripes”) terrorizing the region. After failed attempts to gather intel (due to Clover’s feared human status), they confront the gang in a brutal alleyway showdown. Kanako, overwhelmed, accidentally kills a thug with a magically enhanced bullet — triggering a crisis of conscience. Clover, in a grim act of mercy and necessity, finishes the dying man off — telling Kanako, “I killed him.”

Judy Hopps is under intense psychological and physical control by a mysterious antagonist, Peter, who’s blackmailing her with threats to her family and Fennel’s loved ones. After being forced to publicly betray her partner, Nick Wilde — who’s now suspended or detained — Judy is manipulated into following strict orders: avoid eye contact, suppress emotion, and comply with surveillance. She’s taken to her apartment under watch, where she tries (and fails) to secretly retrieve a hidden recording device — a sentimental carrot pen from Nick — before being forced to smash it. The tension peaks when Peter reveals he’s also holding Fennel’s sister and kits hostage, and then abruptly announces that Nick is on the run, leaving Judy and Fennel frozen in fear, unsure of what comes next.
