Her tiny body wanted to weep, cry, wail for her Bruce as he gently pulled her into his arms. Hot tears cooled on her cheeks. She wanted to tell him everything, how much she missed him even though she'd never met him before, even though he had no idea who she was.
"Mb-bh—" she tried, as Batman settled her against his chest, wrapping her in the cape. Her lips felt unwieldy, thick and numb. "Bhu— brr—"
But she'd practiced. She'd practiced his name so many times, every night since she fled the man who'd created her, since she saw the life she once had will have flash through her mind as though remembering a long, long dream. But it wasn't a dream. It was her past, and also her future.
She refused to wait for it.

Cassie didn’t understand. She was a Weapon, made to hurt and kill. Well, she didn’t want to kill, so she was a bad Weapon, but she was one anyway. Bruce looked sad-sad-sad again. Jay also looked sad-confused-hurt. She didn’t understand.
Or: Cassie gets to the Wayne's early, and everyone wants to cuddle with her cause she's a hurt cutie-patootie.

If it weren’t for the gag in his mouth, he’d be biting and taunting, anything to get them to focus on anything but Cass, but he can’t work the damn rag out. She hangs just across the room from him, every once in a while being dragged out of sight where he can only rely on the splashing and gurgling to tell him that they’re trying to break her by drowning her in the rotting bathtub off the living room, but she always comes back to that hook. And he can’t see her eyes, but he can feel her gaze on him the whole time.
