Summary
It's an appropriate punishment, Atsushi thinks, for him to end up trapped inside one of Poe's novels after snooping around Ranpo's desk. The contents of the novel are bizarre, but he's doing his best to stay calm. As long as he follows the rules, getting out should be a cinch, right?
Maybe it would be, if that jerk Akutagawa wasn’t stuck in here with him.

Summary
Five minutes ago Hikaru was flipping through a magazine, stretched out on Yoshiki's bed while Yoshiki sat on the floor watching something on his phone. A normal afternoon - right up until Yoshiki turned around, frowning in that way he does when he has a question he's not sure he'll like the answer to. Yoshiki gives Hikaru that kind of look a lot, these days.
"Where do things go when you put 'em inside you? Impurities and stuff?"
And Hikaru shrugged, and said, "I dunno. If you really wanted to find out I guess you'd have to look for yourself."

Summary
The mission had been a success, which was hardly a surprise. Akutagawa had barely a scratch on him, and the tiger had stitched Atsushi back together as if he was just a ripped teddy bear. All the lackeys guarding the strange chemical lab had been bested, disappointedly within the ADA’s ridiculous boundaries, but bested none the less. Now all they had to do was gather some evidence for the report. Rashomon lifted a white rag off the ground that had been soaked by the strange clear liquid they were manufacturing, elegant black tendrils twisting and swirling until the cloth was presented to the young detective who was peeling himself off the ground.
“Weretiger smell this. Do you have any knowledge to what chemical this might be?”

Summary
Some nights after a mission, Akutagawa and Atsushi wind up sleeping in the same room. Tonight, that happens to be Akutagawa's living room. When Atsushi falls apart after a nightmare, Akutagawa makes every effort to help, even if that means risking his dignity.

“You brought snacks, Weretiger?”
Atsushi opens his eyes; Akutagawa is glaring at him across the alley, and irritation coils hot in Atsushi’s gut.
“Yeah, well some of us actually expend energy during a fight, rather than just standing in one place and letting our fancy Ability do all the work.”
“Of course you’d see it that way; your understanding of Special Abilities is so painfully rudimentary,” Akutagawa scoffs, but there’s the barest tremble beneath his words, and when Atsushi shoves another bite of onigiri into his mouth, Akutagawa’s eyes track its movements perfectly.
So that’s what this is about, Atsushi thinks, his anger dissipating as quickly as it came. What an idiot. You know you can just say that you’re hungry, right?

Summary
It can’t end like this. Atsushi has mere minutes left, maybe less, and he can’t die listening to Akutagwa’s scolding and insults. Comfort has never come easily to Akutagwa, but he has to try. Atsushi deserves that much, at least.
But Akutagawa can’t think of what to say. He can’t tell Atsushi that it’s fine, that he’ll be okay, or any of those trite, hollow reassurances. It’s not okay, and perhaps it never will be again — not without Atsushi.
In his last moments, bloody and painful though they are, Atsushi deserves better than lies. So Akutagawa instead settles on the deepest truth he knows. Perhaps, here and now, the only truth.
“You can’t die, you useless overgrown cat,” Akutagawa snarls, half-choking on a sob. “I love you, so you can’t die. Not when I love you.”
Thinking Atsushi is dying in his arms, Akutagawa confesses his love, knowing he’ll never have another chance.
But of course Atsushi, always the thorn in Akutagawa’s side, does something wholly unexpected.
He survives.

Summary
Dazai knows a thing or two about scars. He can tell the old ones from the new, the superficial from the deep, the merely uncomfortable from the utterly agonizing. And so he knows, with a single look, that Atsushi had spent years and years of his youth with pain as his oldest, closest companion.

"Akutagawa, obviously. Why won't you give it a try?"

Summary
“I did not word it properly,” Ryuunosuke continued, thumbs rubbing circles onto Atsushi’s skin. Atsushi sniffled. Ryuunosuke watched his sunrise eyes turn glossy as he tried to not cry. Atsushi leaned forward, with his whole body, and Ryuunosuke let go of his hands to catch him when he leaned into him. Ryuunosuke did not know how but he felt he had messed something up and was fully prepared to do something drastic such as cutting off his own arm in punishment and presenting it to Atsushi (it was an emotional and irrational moment) for forgiveness. Atsushi, however, threw his arms around Ryuunosuke before he could start. The force of his hug sent them tumbling and Atsushi pressed teary kisses at every part of Ryuunosuke he could seemingly reach.

Summary
if anyone were to find this, then it would be a disaster. that was why, simply, they must not be found.
Akutagawa and Atsushi fall for each other at different times, in different ways, but with one thing the same: their first reaction is to hide it from the other, assuming that of course their love couldn't be reciprocated. As if they didn't notice the fact that they held each other's hearts.

Akutagawa stilled completely. His throat worked once, then again.
“You asked me a question,” he finally said, voice quieter than usual.
Atsushi tilted his head, white hair falling onto his shoulders as he blinked. “A question…? What— what kind of question?”
Akutagawa squeezed his eyes shut and took a deep breath, visibly disturbed at what he was about to say. He looked like he hated everything about this.
“You asked me if I’d ever had my foot nailed to the floor.”

Summary
“That hurts.” Akutagawa forced out through his teeth.
“I’m not trying to hurt you.” Atsushi said with genuine concern behind his irritation, but it felt like a lie coming from his lips, since all he had ever done is hurt Akutagawa. It should be considered cruel, the way that Atsushi could kill him even when he was at his kindest, because right now the gentle feeling of Atsushi’s meticulous hands feels more like a stab wound than anything else.
Or: Trust is a complicated thing- especially between Atsushi and Akutagawa, who aren't quite enemies, but aren't quite lovers either.
