Summary
"It wasn't my love for Louis, Daniel... But it was love."
Daniel's face twitches through a number of emotions that even he isn't entirely sure of. He stares at Armand for a long, silent minute. He can feel the charge between them, the attraction that shouldn't exist between an ancient vampire who looks like a college kid and a new fledgling who looks like a septuagenarian. He can feel the quiet devastation of having a confession lobbed at him that is simultaneously wholly unexpected and... somewhere deep in his bones, wholly unsurprising, exactly the same way he felt about the revelation that their bond was something different than the typical bond between makers and fledglings. He can also feel the utter skepticism of hearing from a master manipulator like Armand that he loved him after meeting him twice.
And, because he is a cynic and an asshole and a journalist with too many decades under his belt to believe everything he hears, and because that feeling is the only one that makes any logical sense, it's of course the one that he follows.
Technically a follow-up to my previous fic but can be read as a standalone.

“The only kind of healing I need is some good old-fashioned sexual healing,” Cid counters, making Clive groan, “And you’re plenty capable of that.”
“Cid—!” Clive starts, but is abruptly cut off by Cid grabbing his hand and yanking him down onto the bed on top of him. It would seem he’s tired of the argument.

Here Armand is beneath him, small and thin and malleable, pretty as sunlight as he looks up at Daniel in the dark.
“Hello?” Armand says, amused, and Daniel should not laugh, should not dare to when his hand is wrapped around Armand’s throat. It escapes him anyway, a breathy sort of chuckle, and Armand smiles at the sound of it.
