Summary
Shane and Ilya aren't outed, but they're still planning to get married in July and now have to tell the people they care about that they're together and getting married.
Ilya told Marleau and Troy face to face, and made a funny joke about just showing up to camp and acting like everyone had always known, because just telling his best friends had given him so much anxiety he'd nearly been sick.
Except Shane hadn't thought it was a funny joke. Shane thought it was a GREAT plan. It probably needed a dry run at the Kingfisher first.

It accidentally became a story about how a toxic and sexist culture can condition women into thinking that disrespect is just the price they pay for success, and how sometimes it only takes a couple good people in a sea of assholes and bystanders to show you that you deserve more. I like to imagine that Ilya and Shane would be those people.

Hollander takes a step back, immediately moving out of the way as Rozanov charges from his right, catching Bernese seemingly off guard, not anticipating him to actually hear the chirp. His chest was shoved – hard. It hurts him through his padding before his collar gets balled up and Rozanov violently shakes him, momentum favoring the speed at which he jumps him.
“Watch your fucking mouth when you talk to my team,” he snarls.
; There's a new dawn on ice. And with revelation comes resistance. And with resistance, comes the very fist of the one who changes the game. Montreal is not their only problem. But with Ottawa slowly establishing themselves as a household name, their word and play is law on the ice.

Gagnon barrels toward him, and Shane slaps the puck, but his fucking stick breaks, sending the lower half flying, the puck sliding towards Gagnon instead.
“Fuck!” Shane curses and he and Ilya adjust, skating backward and keeping an eye on the puck. Ilya suddenly appears right next to Shane, tapping his arm with his stick.
“Here, baby, take mine.”
He takes the offered stick, eyes still on the puck as it’s passed to Comeau.
“What are you gonna–“ He calls out to Ilya, who immediately skates away with a shrug.
“I’ll just take JJ’s.”
“What?! Ilya, NO!”

Summary
Montreal comes into Ottawa looking for blood.
They get a rookie with a mouth on him instead.
It’s supposed to be just another tight, physical game against the Voyageurs. Hard checks, ugly chirps, Rozanov bleeding a little for dramatic effect, the usual. Shane thinks he’s prepared. Ilya is, as always, one mildly illegal hit away from throwing hands. Bood is having the time of his life.
No one, however, is prepared for Luca Haas.
Nineteen. Polite. Painfully earnest. Carries art supplies in his backpack. Has never had an on-ice fight.
Until he does.
A story about rivalry, locker room insanity, rookie feral awakenings, and the exact moment Ottawa realizes their baby has teeth.

Luca was the first to move. He launched himself off the couch as if electrocuted. “OH MY GOD!”
Troy scrambled up next, wiping the back of his thighs frantically. “YOU ANIMALS!”
Harris stood up slowly, a look of profound betrayal on his face. “I’m sitting on the ghosts of your dead would-have-been-children.”
Wyatt simply stood, walked to a wooden dining chair in the corner and sat down with the solemnity of a man choosing a life of celibacy.
(or, 5 times Ottawa Centaurs teased Hollanov for their crazy love and 1 time they showed that crazy or not, Shane and Ilya are family. And no one fucks with their family)
