Valerie was so obviously disgusted that someone had thought of her when getting off, like it had been a violation. How was that different from what he’d been doing all week with the images of Andrew in his head? He’d promised Andrew that he wouldn’t let himself be like every one of the men who’d taken so much from him. That vow had been everything and more important than any promise he’d ever made before. The sinking realization that he had been breaking it made the ground under himself shift.
