The plan worked and they had Jericho back. He was almost exactly how he used to be, back in the jungle, just with a lot of guilt over what he and his scion had done.
Once he explained that he had lost control over his scion and himsself, everyone forgave him. Lyss and Lauro weren't fans of him, obviously, but at this point, no one hated Jericho more than Jericho.

After Reuben walks Carter home from the rookie dinner, he can't help but continue to worry about him. He wanted to believe that Carter really was joking about drowning himself in the nearest pond, but a voice inside of him refused to let that moment go. He agonizes all night, then gets up at dawn to go for a run. However, it does the opposite of calming his nerves when he finds Carter sitting atop an unstable ice sheet over a deep pond. Though it's the last thing Carter would have wanted, Lee and Patel stumble into the situation.
Matt POV: “FUCK!” I shouted, dashing in as Reuben ran to close the distance. “Don’t let either of us die, Captain!”
Simon POV: “What the hell kind of trauma do you have, Howe?” I asked. Matt turned and hit me.
“You cannot just ask somebody that!!”
Howe froze, but his fake attitude was up again instantly. “Why, are you into some weird shit, Lee?”
Nobody laughed.
“Not this weird, man…”
“Can the whole room maybe not look at me like I’m about to die or something, please? It’s getting real uncomfy over here guys… haha…”
