Summary
It's not an easy life, running cargo through space to the very edge of the sun's influence. Eighteen months ago, when Lip wanted to leave their ship, the Fiona Gallagher, Ian didn't think they'd be able to find another mechanic as skilled. Until luck delivers them Mickey. And don't get him wrong, he's brilliant at his job... but Ian needs more than that from the only other person on board his ship. Like an actual conversation that doesn't revolve around maintenance schedules.
In the present, a few weeks after an engine breakdown and a stressful space walk led Ian and Mickey to finally admit their feelings for each other, they reach the relative safety of Odyssey Station. They're hoping for some R&R, and time to enjoy the relationship they're just starting to build together. Odyssey has other plans. Dr Svetlana Yevgenivna needs passage to Earth for herself and some important research. And just to add insult to injury, Svetlana brings a complication even she doesn't know about.

Summary
A ship taller than some office blocks stood in the water, floors and floors of windows and decks, and fuck knows what else.
Ian stands staring at it, hand shading his eyes against the sun.
“Holy fuck,” he manages. “Really?”
He tries not to sound sceptical, but it wouldn’t have been his first guess. Or his second, really. Not even third. Probably way down the list after ‘adventure sports’ and ‘visiting the Mexican resort where he’d worked for the cartel’. But Mickey looks back at him with the most excited grin on his face. He sees through Ian’s hesitance and just grins.
“This place is gonna be amazing, c’mon… you’ll see.”

Summary
Ian Gallagher worked hard for this. He's in his senior year of a music scholarship, conducting the first undergraduate orchestra. If the first concert of the year goes well, he might even get noticed by someone who can help him get a conducting gig after he graduates.
But to get there, he's got to work with a principal violinist, Mickey Milkovich, who seems more intent on riling the entire orchestra up and starting fights with first flute and the viola section leader. -

“Calm down,” he said when one man took a joke too far. His tone was light, the thread of warning something only Mickey would hear. “They’re just kidding, baby.”
And Mickey froze, and quieted.

Summary
Ian has been estranged from his mother for the past eleven years, because after being burned by her time and time again, he could not do it anymore, he had to save himself. He's done well for himself -got in with a good marketing company for five of those years, and even moved out of South Side.
But not everything lasts... in one day, Ian loses his career and his year-long relationship... and then ten days later learns that Monica has taken her own life, leaving him with all her possessions. Now freed up from his responsibilities, Ian heads down to a small, isolated town to deal with Monica's fallout.
