Toda sorte de felicidade fica estampada no rosto de ambos em toda vez que eles se veem, e isso é mais do que óbvio. O casal não faz ideia do que os outros enxergam de ruim ou horrível um no outro. Se há, fazem questão de ignorar, pois o que realmente importa para os amantes são os momentos em que os dois se encontram e compartilham de sua paixão, a qual eles já têm a mais pura certeza de que é amor. Um amor palpável, recíproco, verdadeiro… incondicional.

John não consegue afastar o pensamento da mulher indígena que viu na beira da cachoeira — sua pele com um tom acobreado, o corpo esbelto, o cabelo longo e fluido, escuro como a noite. Mas foram os olhos dela, tão profundos que o desarmaram por completo, fazendo-o abaixar o mosquete. Um único olhar foi o suficiente para julgá-lo.
Pocahontas também não consegue tirar da cabeça aquele homem alto, de pele branca, olhos pequenos e azuis como o céu ao amanhecer, nariz alongado, lábios finos e cabelos dourados como uma espiga de milho. Ele falava palavras estranhas, diferentes e parecia perigoso — alguém em quem não deveria confiar. E, mesmo assim, esse estranho não saía de seus pensamentos.
Eles tinham que se ver novamente.

Seu olhar se desviou para a princesa, que conversava com alguém, antes de voltar sua atenção a ele.
— Por ter civilizado a princesa dos selvagens tão bem.
Droga. Apenas com esta primeira linha de diálogo, Smith soube o que iria escutar e criou um asco da mulher de imediato.

Draft of the first chapter of my original book project I was working on… If you like my fanfics, this story won't be much different. It was inspired by a 1996 book called “Two Mighty Rivers” by Mari Hanes and “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson. I thought of this story when I was completely absorbed in those books, at sea, in the Age of Discovery… If I could, I would definitely go back to that time a few months ago.
Anyway, it’s a rough draft with no guarantee of progress. You’ll follow the beginning of Dylan Payne’s story, a very cute boy. Unfortunately, the future I created for him would be much more tragic.

John had not come to the ball to be decorated or recognized for any achievement or title; he was there purely for diplomacy, so what could it be?
“Oh, come now… do not pretend to be innocent,” she said, now smiling with yellowed teeth while gesturing with her ring-covered hands.
Her gaze drifted toward the princess, who was speaking with someone.
“For having civilized the princess of the savages so well.”
Damn. From that very first line of dialogue, Smith already knew what he was about to hear and immediately felt a revulsion for the old woman.

I mean,” he turned to me, “not that I don't get myself into dangerous situations, but… to jump like that, without tools and with no one nearby, from such a colossal height is…” he looked again at the immensity below, “... something to reconsider. Although the experience must be incredible, I'm certain of it.”
I laughed again at that moment, for I realized from his last words that he had begun to feel the desire to jump.

While Pocahontas was doing some shopping in downtown Jamestown, luckily for her, John was heading home from work at the very same moment. He had just come out of more than one reunion with the Governor, discussing the procedures between the Natives and the English regarding the season to come.
Everything seemed fine at first; however, she noticed something strange: John wasn’t really answering her questions about his day, he quickened his pace on the way home, and held her right hand tightly, which wasn’t customary of him. Something had happened at work, and she needed, wanted to know.

She couldn’t have been more irritated.
“Don’t play dumb!” she raised her voice. “Is that what you’re going to keep saying to me? To our relationship? We don’t go out anymore, we don’t have dinner together anymore… you don’t even sleep next to me anymore, John. And we’re married!”
She vented. She needed to speak, couldn’t take it anymore. He widened his eyes, letting go of her hands and bracing himself to respond to the accusations.
