Summary
On September 19, 2008, Amy and Victoria Dallon undergo a trigger event after being held captive for over a week. This is about how they pick up the pieces and explore the complications brought on by the experience. This is a character-led story and as such many character dynamics and relationships cannot be tagged ahead of time as they will develop organically. Scion, the Endbringers, and other massive-scale threats will likely not play a major role in this story. While the original work has grimdark elements and this work contains many similar themes, this work is not intended to have a sad ending.
I will be attempting to update at least once weekly.

Zoey finally speaks numbly, eyes staring a million miles away. "She thinks we're leaving her here. She thinks we'd do that to her."
Mira face turns deathly pale and her eyes widen.
"Why would you think-?"
"Oh, why wouldn't she, Mira?!" Zoey snaps, a nasty edge to her voice.
The silence that follows last a solid minute before Mira takes a deep breath and pulls the cooler and three suitcases out of the trunk.
"We are all staying here until we sort ourselves out. and then we are ALL returning to the penthouse, hopefully able to look one another in the eye again. Got it!? Great. Now, considering neither of you can drive, I suggest we go inside. Now."
Chapter 2 got Angsty. I'm not sorry.

Summary
The gloves are exactly the right size when she’s eight, and a little small at ten. Age eleven, the first chill breeze slinks through the garden with dead leaves in its mouth like a grey street cat, unbidden, proudly feral. Rumi can’t get her gloves on. The narrow bite of the opening tight around her knuckles.
It’s a silly thing to cry about but it feels—it feels—oh she doesn’t know.
Bad. A little bit. Maybe.

Summary
"I know, love. I know," Zoey coos, smiling. The gentle tone makes Mira's head fuzzier and her heart lighter. "You're excited, aren't you?"
Mira nods, yipping. When Zoey removes her hand from her hair though, she pouts, moving to gnaw at Zoey's sweatpants.
"Hey! Hey, no." Zoey pulls Mira back by the back of her neck. "Bad girl! We're not playing right now, are we?"
At Mira's defiant pout, Zoey sighs, letting her puppy drop to the floor just to flick her on the nose. Mira yelps at the light pain.
"Remember, puppy," Zoey says, pointing at Mira with a stern look on her face. "I'm one of your owners today. Not your playmate."
