Summary
Although the Titans are gone, Reiner's struggles aren't. His guilt is still eating him alive, and the trauma of his past still weighs heavy on him. Driven once more to the brink, he finds himself being admitted to a psychiatric hospital that turns his world upside down even further. He feels isolated, lonely, scared, and unworthy of being at peace again.
Is there hope for someone who believes they're as far gone as he is? Reiner doesn't think so. But maybe, just maybe, someone out there will be willing to reach out where no hope seems to be found.

"Erwin’s eyes opened, his body feeling weightless. Sitting up, he looked around at the ruins of Shiganshina, smoke rising from the rubble. There was a quiet muffling sound to his right. It was Hange; Hange was crying! Erwin turned to comfort them, but when he did, he saw Levi staring downward, tearless eyes filled with sorrow. His face was coated in blood. “Levi, what’s wrong?” he asked, moving to comfort him. But when he did, his eyes caught a glimpse of a body lying on the rooftop.
His body.
He was dead."
Following his passing on the rooftop of Shiganshina, Erwin must say goodbye. But where there's a farewell in one life, there may be a hello in the next.

Summary
Erwin Smith survived Shiganshina by some miracle. He never expected to learn the truth about this world or experience what life beyond the Walls was like. In his recovery, he learns about the ocean and becomes determined to get there. However, his guilt over the lives he sacrificed to reach the basement still haunts him. Fortunately, he has one Levi Ackerman by his side.
As for Levi, he's dealing with many heavy emotions surrounding Erwin's recovery, but what surprises him the most are his personal feelings towards the former commander.

Levi placed one hand on Erwin’s head, holding it on his shoulder. He placed his other hand under Erwin’s left arm, wrapping it around his chest and pulling his back to him tightly. Levi looked down at where he cradled Erwin’s head in his hand, and saw Erwin’s tired eyes trying to look up at him.
“Alright, Captain. We’re ready,” one of the medics said.

Falsely accused of treason and sentenced to be executed, Jean is in prison at the same time Eren is being held there after Trost. Commander Erwin sees Jean and decides to try and bring him into the Survey Corps.
