    The second the seniors and Felicia walked off, Peter marched forward. With a surge of confidence, he stepped into MJ’s personal space—which was already a myth between them—and slammed his hand against the kitchen cabinet right beside MJ’s head. He tried to loom over him, putting on his best "smoldering" face.

    “Hey,” Peter said, dropping his voice an octave. It came out sounding like a low-budget Batman impression.

    MJ bit his lip, but a sharp, melodic laugh escaped anyway. “Peter,” MJ chuckled, his voice a smooth contrast to the thumping music. “What are you doing?”

    This was inspired by Jeremih’s song “Impatient” (I really recommend this song by the way, it’s so good!!) but I scrapped a whole lot, just know this takes place at a party.

    They crawled along the surfaces, legs tapping lightly against the glass, some still, others moving in slow, deliberate patterns. Most of them were colored in shades of red and blue, their bodies catching the overhead light in a way that made them look almost artificial but a few stood out even more. Deep purple. Rich, unnatural, like something that didn’t exist outside of a place like this. Pony’s gaze locked onto them and noticed one of them was jumping out, curiosity pushing past the nerves for just a second as he watched the cart disappear further down the hall. Ponyboy didn’t know if he should tell the scientist that when the spider jumped out… but yet again it’s not like it’s a big deal, right? It's just a spider.

    “…Huh,” he whispered under his breath, barely audible even to himself.
