Damian had refused breakfast.
Then he'd refused his favorite snacks.
Then he'd refused to play with Titus.
That had been particularly alarming.
Normally, Damian adored his enormous dog. Titus could trip over his own feet and Damian would still laugh like it was the greatest thing he'd ever witnessed.
Today?
Nothing.
The dog had approached cautiously, tail wagging.
Damian had merely looked at him before turning away and letting out another tiny, heartbreaking whine.
Even Titus seemed confused.

Bruce helped Damian off the swing and guided him toward the miniature seesaw next. Damian climbed on with all the solemn concentration of someone embarking on dangerous work. Bruce took the opposite seat, using barely any weight at all, lifting Damian up and down while the toddler giggled so hard he nearly slipped sideways.
Jason snorted from across the playground.
“You’re ridiculous,” he called.
