Chapter Text
Wild woke up that morning to something warm on the scarred part of his face. It’s only there for a moment, and his brain takes a second to process that he was just kissed on his cheek.
He grumbles sleepily in response, and there’s a fond huff right by his ear.
“Sorry, didn’t mean to wake you up.” Sky’s voice comes out in a whisper, “You can sleep some more, there’s still an hour before we all need to wake up.”
Wild opens his eyes and blinks slowly, before turning to Sky with his eyebrows furrowed. Sky still has him in the same hug from last night, seeing as he was Sky’s chosen victim as a cuddle buddy this time.
At Wild’s confused look, Sky smiles at him reassuringly. “I don’t always sleep in, silly. Even if my body needs more rest than the rest of you do.”
Wild’s ear flicks and he hums in understanding. He then yawns, stretching his entire body the best he can in Sky’s hug trap. He likely wasn’t going back to sleep now.
He stares at Sky with a slow blink. Sky blinks back.
Wild sticks his tongue out at him, and Sky lets out a quiet gasp of offense.
“Rude.” Sky presses his lips to Wild’s cheek again for that ‘insult’, and Wild whines. This time he doesn’t stop at one Kiss- he kisses him on that same cheek rapidly.
Wild squeals, and he tries to push Sky off. Sky shushes him playfully, “You’re gonna wake the others up.” He snickers.
The absolute villain he was. Wild pouts deeply, though he wasn’t actually upset. He lightly shoves both of his hands into Sky’s face.
Sky’s hug on him tightens, and he pushes past Wild’s hands to kiss the other side of his face.
He was trapped and forced to bear these kisses.. What a terrible fate… There’s no other way out of this…
He thinks this all in a dramatic fashion.
…
Unless.
Hyrule didn’t want him to try transforming into that fairy form again until they could 1. Find a safe place to do it- and 2. Until Hyrule could find something to help mend the broken fairy wing he had due to his scarring.
But it would be really funny if he could do it right now.
…
How did he go from fairy to himself again? He just kinda… Tugged at some inner magic inside of him that he didn’t recognize.
Sky stops kissing his cheek and looks at him with an eyebrow raised. “...And what are you thinking about, mister?”
Wild blinks, he must’ve been zoning out enough for Sky to realize he wasn’t fighting back any more.
He looks at Sky with a blank look. It would be really funny, he thinks again- and as Sky squints at him he searches inside of himself.
There it is. Wild feels it, something akin to fairy magic but just more.. Diluted? That was likely why he never felt it before- if it was always there. He never really thought to look for magic like that either.
Wild ponders if there’s a chance the shrine of resurrection had something to do with this.
Well. That was something for Zelda to think about, not him. He can’t really completely understand the ‘science’ part of it all. Or uh.. Magic science? Maybe just magic.
He didn’t really need to completely understand it, to be honest. As long as it didn’t hurt him, well.. He’d rather do his best to figure out how to utilize it.
Or. Y’know.
Wild smiles at Sky, who smiles back hesitantly. “Not that I don’t like seeing your smile but-”
Wild tugs at that fairy magic inside of him, and watches Sky’s eyes widen with amusement as he shrinks down and his hug trap is no longer a trap.
He gets buried underneath the blanket they were sharing, however. And Sky has to lift the blanket up to see him lying on his stomach- his fairy wings fluttering behind him as he looks up at Sky with a big grin.
“Oh yeah, you think you’re real charming- huh?” Sky picks him up by the ‘scruff’- the back of his shirt, before he can even try to squirm away. He cradles Wild in the palm of his hands and sits up on the bedroll. “You’re lucky your little smile lessened the blow. Could’ve given me a heart attack. Not to mention Hyrule said no changing until we were somewhere safe- do you wanna give him a heart attack? Hm?”
Wild’s wings flutter with a chime-like laugh, and he’s still smiling up at Sky as he sits on his palms.
“Ohhh, I see. You thought it’d be funny then? I think I know what’d be funny, too.” Sky leans close, and Wild immediately puts his tiny hands up in defense- but it was too late. Sky was kissing his cheek again- and because Sky was so much bigger, it made it even more obnoxious.
Wild chimes in complaint, and Sky giggles, finding it hard to continue.
He’s letting out another squeal when Sky lifts his thumbs up and squishes his face.
“I see you’re smothering him.” Hyrule’s amused voice startles them both- and Sky looks over with a sheepish smile at Hyrule now crouching by them.
Wild meets Hyrule’s stare with as innocent of a look he can muster.
“I didn’t wake you up, did I?” Sky questions as he hands Wild over to Hyrule when prompted to do so.
“I’ve been watching you both for… Abooooout ten minutes now.” Hyrule says smugly. “Woke up just in time too, would’ve sucked if I missed Wild disregarding what I told him to not do.”
Wild pouts at Hyrule’s pointed look, then squeaks when Hyrule pokes his forehead.
“I’ll leave him to you then.” Sky leans over to kiss Hyrule on the cheek, then he stands up. “I need to go check on Twilight. He had the last shift last night and I don’t see that wolf anywhere around.”
“Mhm.” Hyrule agrees, “He probably knew you were awake and went to go check around the area.”
“Yep. I’ll nudge a few bedrolls while I’m on my way so the others start to wake up.” Sky hums, “Don’t give him too much grief. And Wild,”
Wild looks up at Sky with his pout.
Sky leans down, kisses Wild on the head, then walks off.
Wild huffs, scratching at the top of his messy hair.
Hyrule stares down at him with an unreadable look.
Wild returns that look with another look of ‘pure innocence’.
Hyrule leans his head forward and rubs his cheek against Wild’s- making the other squeak in surprise. “You’re a mess.” Hyrule sighs out, “Are you going to turn back before the others get a hold of you?”
What was it that Hyrule said? He was too busy soaking in Hyrule’s faint fairy magic he can feel much more prominently in this form.
“Wild?” Hyrule says his name in confusion and when he pulls his face away- Wild whines.
He chimes at Hyrule in a needy way, and Hyrule’s eyebrows raise.
“Wild.” Hyrule says more sternly.
Wild blinks.
….
Ohhh.
Wild’s face turns red in pure embarrassment.
Now that he thought about it, there had been some fog creeping up on his brain.
Looks like he really will need to spend some time in a safe place to get used to this form. Unless he wants to end up in another ‘wizzrobe’ situation where he struggled to think clearly at all.
Wild tugs at the magic inside of him again, and Hyrule gets an armful of hylian.
Hyrule snorts, not letting Wild go quite yet as he wraps his arms around him. “You get it now, don’t you?”
Wild huffs, leaning his forehead onto Hyrule’s shoulder.
Yeah. He does.
