Chapter Text
Fukuzawa pushes the shopping cart toward the check-out, Ranpo trailing behind him. He doesn’t (he does) notice when Ranpo stops following him, nor does he hear the gasp he lets out. He definitely notices when a DVD is ‘subtly’ placed in the cart with
Bambi II
printed on it. He turns to look at Ranpo, expecting some sort of pleading expression rather than the glare he receives.
“You didn’t tell me there’s another Bambi movie, so to make up for it we’re getting this.” He states accusingly, confident his logic is sound. Fukuzawa considers this for a moment, before nodding – despite the fact he had no clue the Bambi movie had a second movie himself.
“You may use your own money from your detective work to purchase it.”
Ranpo’s lips twist into a pout but he says nothing, it's better than a
no
after all.
Later that day, Fukuzawa found himself seated at the couch with Ranpo by his side, watching Bambi II. Ranpo had decided to make a whole thing out of it, pestering Fukuzawa to prepare snacks and drinks as well as create a nest of pillows and blankets on the couch. Ranpo is seated against the left arm of the couch with a blanket around him and a pillow behind him, legs stretched out and feet resting on Fukuzawa’s legs, using him as a glorified footrest. The older man in question is sitting like a normal person instead of languidly stretched out like a cat, a blanket draped over his legs (and Ranpo’s feet) with his own pillow behind him. Snacks lay between them – mostly for Ranpo – as well as a drink each, tea for the older and a soft drink for the younger. The lights are dimmed, creating a comfortable atmosphere as they enjoy the movie.
Despite Ranpo guessing the plot of the movie only a few minutes in, he seems to enjoy it, constantly comparing himself and Fukuzawa to Bambi and his father once again. It's nice. Fukuzawa can’t deny he enjoys himself too.
(He also discovers he should never bring Ranpo to a movie theatre with how he doesn’t stop talking once throughout the entire runtime of the movie.)
