Chapter Text

Kurono Eri was not nervous.

Really she wasn’t.

Sure, she had heard the rumors that the Emperor liked to sit in on the Entrance Exams for UA but she was pretty sure that they were just that. Rumors.

It would all be fine.

Okay, sure, the idea of crossing paths with the Emperor had been a bit of a nightmare for her when she was younger thanks to the stories she grew up with from her family. Stories of how when her uncle Kai had been around her age, Ten had just turned up one day and taken his Quirk because he had thought it too useful to pass up and how her Uncle Hari and the rest of the family had not been able to do anything to stop it. While, yes, Uncle Kai was actually pretty happy that it had happened since he never would have been able to meet Uncle Flect if it hadn’t, the prospect of something similar happening with her because of her own powerful Rewind had been a constant worry of the family.

Enough of one that when her Uncle Hari had taken custody of her after her Daddy’s death and her Mom giving her up to her Grandfather, that they had left the country to stay with Uncle Kai for a few years. But she was back now because UA was a global leader in schools that focused on not only normal teaching but certification for Quirk use in one’s career.

If Eri ever wanted to legally use her Quirk as a doctor, her best bet was UA.

And because she had registered for the entrance exam as someone with a medical related Quirk, she was now here with another boy her age with light brown curls following behind the Recovery Girl as she lead them to the testing grounds following her debriefing of how they would be tested by having them help her with the healing of the test takers who managed to hurt themselves over the course of the test.

She pulled open a door to a room filled with monitor screens. “Here we are. Kurono, Shimano, this is where we will be waiting while they do the testing of those with more combat inclines that are aiming for Heroics.”

“Ah, I had wondered what was holding you up, Shuzenji.” Then Eri spotted him and tensed as she felt his eyes on her. Ten. “Kurono Eri and Shimano Katsuma was it?”

She was then slightly shocked as Recovery Girl lashed out at Ten with her cane. “Have you been snooping into the prospective student files again?”

Ten gave an unapologetic look to her. “No actually. I have merely been waiting to meet these two again for a long time.”

Eri blinked. “Again? But we’ve never-” She cut herself off as she realized what she had just done, questioning the Emperor.

Ten smiled gently at her. “Not in this timeline, no. I did my best to ensure that the two of you would never see the pain your counterparts faced.”

Shimano seemed more confused than scared by Ten. “This timeline?”

As Recovery Girl gave the man an exasperated look, Ten raised a finger to his lips. “It is sort of a secret but I was sent back in time into my younger body to prevent the end of the world.”

That got Eri’s full attention. After all, as someone with a time Quirk, she knew just how possible that could have been. “And we both met you in the other timeline?”

Ten’s smile brightened. “Yes. The two of us were actually family in the other timeline following you being adopted after the unfortunate events that transpired following your grandfather falling into a coma.” He shifted his attention to Shimano. “We met while I was stationed as a Hero on Nabu Island temporarily. It is actually because of you and your Quirk that I met my elder brother Nine. He came to the island seeking your Quirk so that he had something to counteract the backlash he suffers from his own natural one. Needless to say it was easy enough for me to prevent a repeat of that this time around since I knew about him and the issue much sooner.”

Eri bit her lip as a worry came to mind. “Did… did you take my Uncle Kai’s Quirk because of something from the other timeline?”

Ten’s smile dropped. “I’m sorry to tell you this but he was the entire reason you needed my family to take you in last time. While it all ultimately worked out positively for him in the end, I took his Quirk because I want to protect you from him. I am not sure how much you know about what he has been up to trying to erase Quirks, but in the other timeline he was manufacturing Quirk destroying bullets from your body with his Quirk. From what I have seen of him from this timeline and intimate knowledge of how his Quirk works, I suspect Overhaul was heightening his mysophobia to the point it broke his mind from stress.”

Eri’s stomach dropped because, as much as she wanted to deny her Uncle Kai would never do something like that, she knew her Uncle Kai. Her Uncle that hated children and only had tolerated her as a child in small doses because she had been good about following all the rules for being around him when she visited with her Uncle Hari and hand only really relaxed about her presence once she was old enough to understand why she had to dress up in the mask and gloves to go see him and understood why only Uncle Flect was allowed to touch Uncle Kai despite her Uncle Hari being his adoptive brother.

“Oh.”

Ten sighed at the smallness of her voice. “I’m sorry.”

Eri took a deep breath before shaking her head. “No. It’s fine. While I hate that I could see that happening, I am still glad you told me even if it will never happen here.”

Ten gave her another smile before reaching out to pat her in the shoulder.

{Below are two different paths to the end. Both have the same outcome and are equally canon so you can pick your favorite. -InsomNyaC}

Version 1: Gender Switching!Ten

Mirai blinked at the ream of paper that Shouta had slapped down in front of him. “What is all this?”

Shouta gave him a pointed look and picked up Mirai’s hand and pointed to the ring on it. “You promised me a baby.” He tapped the stack of paper. “This is the Doctor's notes on how he made me and Hitoshi.”

Mirai rolled his eyes. “Impatient are you? Does Hizashi know you are doing this right now? I would have thought he would want to call first dibs if you want to make more of you.”

Shouta snorted. “As far as the public is largely concerned, Hitoshi is his bio kid with me already. Him going first would seem like favoritism in the public’s eyes. Besides, you yourself said my next kid would be biologically mine with my new significant other. With you .”

Mirai huffed and pulled the papers closer to begin reading them. “You can’t seriously still be mad at me about that.”

Shouta rounded the dining room table and pulled out a chair to sit on before wrapping his arms around Mirai. “While I understand why you didn’t tell me that you saw yourself in that vision, it doesn’t mean I am any less annoyed that you left me and Hizashi floundering trying to find that mysterious other person when you were literally right there in plain sight. Could you have not given us at least a hint at some point sooner?”

Mirai sighed and leaned into the slightly shorter but definitely stronger man’s embrace. “I’m sorry but you have to remember, even knowing the enviably of the three of us together, you were still the man I was shifting all my blame onto at the time. The shock of the vision did sort of take a while to fully run its course. So you just need a vial of my blood?”

“Once we find someone trustworthy to act as a surrogate, yeah. It should all be pretty straight forward with Overhaul. We would not even have to draw the blood from you beforehand so long as I do everything with my Quirk.” There was a pause. “Actually… we might not need a surrogate.”

Mirai blinked. “Pardon?”

Shouta had a strange look on his face. “Overhaul can let me regrow organs from scratch.”

Mirai’s eyes widened as that sank in and suddenly the fact that Shouta had been wearing hospital pajamas in his vision made a little more sense. “You intend to be his mother?”

Shouta shrugged. “If it works that means I could safely do the same thing to others later, like Magne. While I am not entirely sure how I feel at the prospect of spending 9 months as a woman, it would be safer for me to run the experiment of the process on myself with all my healing Quirks at my disposal in case something goes wrong then for someone else.”

Mirai, still at a bit of a loss, turned to look at Shouta as a thought occurred to him. “You know, if you are going to do that then that means we might not need the Doctor’s notes.”

Shouta flashed a predatory grin at Mirai. “Well in that case, shall we relocate this conversation to the bedroom?”

Version 2: Trans!Sir Nighteye

Shouta looked down at the bundle in his arms with a hint of amusement. “You know, when you told me that we would have a son that was biologically ours, you failed to mention the fact that people might mistake him for Zashi’s and mine instead.”

Mirai, looking thoroughly exhausted still, snorted. “Honestly, I won’t mind. The last thing I want to deal with after all of this is for people to start misgendering me again. If they want to try and puzzle out which of you two is actually his biological mother, they are more than welcome to it.”

Hizashi snorted as he held out a finger to brush the wispy curl of blonde. “You say that like they haven’t been doing it already with us because of Hitoshi. There are a good number of people out there that refuse to believe that Hitoshi is actually a straight clone of Shouta. There are lots of people out there that debate if me or Kurogiri is his other biological parent. After all, on one hand he naturally has a voice Quirk but on the other he is purple like Kurogiri sort of was.”

Shouta leaned over to give Mirai a quick peck on the lips. “Thank you for agreeing to this. I know the past few months have been especially hard on you.”

Mirai scoffed and waved him off. “I knew perfectly well what I was getting myself into when I agreed to that first date, remember? I am just relieved that we got through the pregnancy with no major issues. I am not exactly all that young.”

Shouta winced at the reminder. Mirai was physically still roughly eight years his and Hizashi’s senior. While 46 was hardly old, it was extremely late for any woman to have kids, let alone a trans man who had been on hormones for decades. Frankly it was nothing short of miraculous that they had even conceived at all, even with Mirai’s reassurance that he would carry their son to term when Shouta had asked about his vision after they had started dating.

Hizashi huffed. “The baby bean still needs a name you two. While there is no rush from the doctors yet, the kiddo needs a name for the birth announcement in a couple hours.”

Shouta winced. Right, that was most certainly a downside to being the country’s royal family. He looked back down at the little newborn in his arms and momentarily froze as his newborn baby blue eyes blurrily opened to meet his own. “What do you think about Toshinori.”

Both his husbands tensed slightly in surprise before a pained smile crossed Mirai’s face. “You don’t have to choose that name for me if you don’t really want-”

Shouta met his gaze. “Mirai, while your Yagi Toshinori was not my friend, you have to remember that once upon a time, I had a Yagi Toshinori who I loved just as much as you did yours.”

“Plus as an added bonus, the name might give Hisashi a stroke.” Hizashi chimed in earning a pained chuckle from Mirai.

“Okay?”

“Okay.”
