Work Text:
“Wednesday dear, could you come down here,” her mother called.
As she entered the drawing room she saw her parents, her father relaxing in his leather armchair, a glass of whiskey in one hand and a cigar in the other.
To his left her mother stood, tall and pale, with long silky black hair trailing down the back of her elegant dress.
In front of them, a man she didn’t recognise, bald, wearing a crisp grey suit and sat in a wheelchair.
“Ah, Miss Addams?” He asked, a distinct mid Atlantic accent.
Wednesday gave a curt nod.
Turning to her parents the man asked “I don’t suppose you two could give us some privacy?”
“Charles,” Morticia began, “dont you know we move in the same circles? We both,” she gestured to Gomez, “know exactly what your little project is,”
“Very well,” he replied rubbing his temples. “Miss Addams, err Wednesday?” He corrected himself, “My name is Charles Xavier, and I’ve come to talk to you about a project I am running in upstate New York, one for people like you.”
“People like me?” Wednesday spat, her eyes narrowing.
“Yes Wednesday, people like you, people like me,” he added, “miss Addams, I have reason to believe, that you’re a Mutant.”
Wednesday felt a sharp intake of her own breath as he said the that word.
She’d heard of Mutants, everyone had, but she hadn’t seriously thought that her power was a result of one.
“As im sure you’re aware, the world isnt so kind to us—“
“You’re a mutant?” Wednesday interrupted.
Xavier placed a finger to his temple, and heard a voice echo in her head.
“Yes,”
Wednesday blinked, and turned away, running her own head.
“My campus provides a safe space for young Mutants to develop their powers in a monitored environment, along with receiving a world class education from several world renowned educators. Im sure you’ve heard of doctor Hank McCoy?”
Wednesday shook her head slightly.
“Well in his spare time he uploads scientific lectures online, here, let me give you a brochure,” he added, handing one to her, before turning his wheelchair to the door of the room.
“Think about it,” he said as he rolled out.
…
Wednesday sat on her bed, the evening had come, and despite her parents pushing, she not yet decided whether she would go.
Thumbing through the pamphlet she read.
“Housed within the grand Xavier Estate, Xavier’s school for gifted youngsters offers world class education, nestled in several hundred acres of land we offer a safe and secure facility for gifted students.
Our history: Founded in recent years, Xavier’s school is the culmination of decades of dreams from our founders Doctor Charles Xavier and Doctor Erik Lehnsherr, though our student body as of yet is small we hope that we can soon grow.
The school: The heart of our school is the Xavier mansion. Originally constructed in 1713 the mansion has been in the Xavier family ever since. Boasting world class educational facilities, the school houses many class rooms, gym facilities, a cafeteria, common rooms and dormitories. Sleeping arrangements are provided to students, as is food.
The faculty:
Professor Charles Xavier: Our Headmaster, Xavier studied biology at Oxford university, following that he traveled the world teaching in underprivileged communities, before meeting his long term partner Erik Lehnsherr in Israel, where their dream was born. Xavier teaches Biology, history and politics.
Professor Erik Lehnsherr: The son of a Holocaust survivor, Lehnsherr has spent his entire adult life performing charity and humanitarian work for minority groups in Israel and the wider Middle East. Lehnsherr teaches Philosophy, Ethics and History.
Professor Hank McCoy: Known online as professor beast for his educational lectures, Doctor Hank McCoy is second only to Doctor Bruce Banner. Educated in physics, biology, chemistry, astronomy, medicine, robotics and computing, McCoy loves nothing more than educating young minds. In his spare time Hank enjoys watching the adventures of his namesake Leonard McCoy. McCoy teaches sciences and often substitutes for other subjects.
Professor Ororo Munroe: Kenyan born, Ororo was one of the first students that Charles and Erik taught, since then she has gone in to work in African politics, specifically in and around Wakanda, she also fosters a fondness for plants. Munroe teaches international relations, Botany and history.
Logan: Former special ops soldier Logan has a long career serving in many high intensity missions. Logan is an expert in self defence, wilderness survival and various life skills. Logan teaches home economics and defence classes.
Kurt Wagner: Orphaned as a baby, Kurt grew up in a circus where he discovered his catholic faith. Since then he has worked with marginalised communities. Kurt Wagner teaches Religious studies and is the schools guidance councillor.

As she closed the brochure, Wednesday shook her head slightly.
It was some of the most obvious academic propaganda she had ever seen. A prison for powered teenagers dressed up as a high status boarding school for parents who couldn’t bear to face the truth of who their children were.
It was surely no coincidence that the brochure made no reference to Mutation or powers.
She would not be attending, no matter how much her parents thought it a good idea, her powers did not require her to be contained, and certainly didn’t require training.
Wednesday stood up, grasping the brochure, preparing to tell her parents just as such, when suddenly every muscle in her body contracted, her head ripping backwards as she fell backwards into a vision.
…
Smoke, fire, screaming.
She was on a street, debris covering the floor, all around her people screamed, running. Some of the people looked different to most, with scales, or horns and various other Mutations.
A loud bang, and a wrenching sound in the distance, as through the fire and the smoke a huge humanoid figure emerged.
Purple metal cladding it’s robotic form, it towered over the streets.
“MUTANT ENTITY DETECTED” its metallic voice rang out, echoing.
“COMBAT PROTOCOLS ACTIVATED, THREAT TERMINATION IMMINENT” it screamed as the machine raised an arm.
And then a woosh as a plane swept out from the darkness, landing in front of the destruction.
A ramp lowered, and down it stepped a man, wearing blue and yellow, with a strange visor covering his eyes.
A woman, slightly shorter than him, wearing green and yellow, with long flowing red hair.
A tall dark skinned white haired woman clad entirely in white.
Two blondes, one taller than the other with long hair, an arm encased in metal and a glowing flaming blue sword, the others hair shorter, with dyed tips, brandishing long multi coloured claws.
And behind them all.
Her.
…
Wednesday woke with a start, sitting up and rubbing her sore eyes.
She tried to remember the details of the vision, but it was like keeping water in cupped hands.
Avid shadows, destruction, and a team of hero’s, like the avengers she had seen when she was little fighting off aliens in New York.
But it wasn’t aliens, and for some reason she was with them.
Steadying herself Wednesday could only come to one conclusion, she had been touching the brochure when it had happened, the only place where she would be able to get more clarity, would unfortunately be at Xavier’s School…
