Cold of the Nightmares

Summary:

Loki and Thor are children. Loki has a nightmare and goes to Thor for comfort.
This is my first writing ever so please don't hate me if it's terrible.

Notes:

Okay, so first of all this is my first writing ever (except a short story that I wrote about my dog when I was eight), therefore I suppose that it's not very good (probably not good at all to be honest). Second of all english is not my first language so I apologize for any mistakes.
Enjoy If it is enjoyable!

Work Text:

He was lying on his back. He could feel the cold of the surface beneath him despite amount of blankets he was wrapped into. He couldn’t move and when he tried to speak only sound escaping his lips was quiet gurgle. That made him unsettled the most of everything, Loki always used his speech as a mean of getting himself out of trouble, therefore he wasn’t pleased with this sudden inability to do so. And then he saw her. Giantic blue figure, leaning over him, stretching arm in his direction.

Loki woke up with screaming, kicking covers of himself, sparks of green magic already dancing between his fingers, only to find himself alone in the darkness of his rooms. And where exactly was he supposed to be? He was big boy of four already. He should’ve known better then to get scared because of some stupid nightmare! This particular nightmare was special though, it tended to repeat itself and always seemed very relistic. And the creature he saw in it!? Frostgiant! Loki has heard enough stories about this horrendous species, this ABOMINATIONS to know that he should be scared of them.

He swung his legs over the edge of the bed. His feet dangled for the moment in the air he was yet to  short to reach the floor. He slipped of the bed and ran towards the door. Loki knew that he wasn’t supposed to get so terrified because of some stupid nightmare but he just couldn’t stay alone in the darkness. Father will be displeasd. Loki thought to himself running through the corridors. He obviously couldn’t go to his parents rooms. Father would've been very angry if he did so. He yelled so loud when Loki described his nightmare to him. For the moment then Loki thought that Odin was going to hit him, he didn’t though. Only because mother took me away.

He stopped before the door to Thor’s room. He stretched his hand up in order to reach the knob. He busted into his brother’s room and jumped onto his bed.

‘’What in the…’’ Thor yelled to his sudden wake up only then to see his little brother ‘’Loki why…’’

Loki hugged his brother thightly and started crying. He shouldn’t have! He was too old too weep like a distressed baby! Thor didn’t seem to mind though. After a short while Loki felt his brother’s warm hand brushing through his hair.

‘’Don’t cry little brother’’ Thor whispered into his ear ‘’Had you this nightmare again? About Frostgiants?’’

Loki nodded slightly and pressed his face into Thor’s chest. Thor was nothing like their father, he had great patiance for Loki’s… visions. Cowardice, let’s call it for what ot is.

‘’Don’t be afraid” Loki felt soft kiss being pressed on the crown of his head ‘’I will protect you’’ Thor declared.

Loki thought for a moment. His brother was going to be a great warrior one day. He already was fighting and winning against boys much older then himself. Yes, Loki supposed that Thor would be able to protect him, even against such foul creatures as Frostgiants. Loki slowly retreated from the hug and looked into his brother’s eyes. They seemed to glow in the dark.

‘’Do you want to stay here tonight?’’ Thor asked.

Loki nodded eagerly trying to dismiss the thoughts of father’s discontent, when he would find out about this. He got with Thor under the covers and let his brother pull him into a hug. And for the moment he felt warm and safe, protected from the filthy creatures appearing in his nightmares.
