Chapter Text
“I can’t believe he thought this was a good idea..”
Jax looked off to the side and scoffed; he was so unbelievably disappointed right now.
“Me and you? Getting married??..”
Spoken with quite a toxic venom, as though the idea itself were unthinkably stupid.
“If he wanted good ideas so badly, he could’ve just used the suggestion box.”
The rabbit hadn’t even gotten out of bed yet, and already he was starting to get on the ragdoll’s nerves.
“It’s probably stuffed full of a bunch of your ideas again.”
Rage-atha retorted, knowing how Jax was, learning to anticipate his mischievous antics before they even happened.
“Heh. Caine never touches the suggestion box anyway, what does it matter?”
Jax teased with that cheeky smile of his, attempting to troll the lady a bit more before they inevitably had to progress in the adventure.
“Look. This isn’t that bad of an adventure..
It’s just one day - all we have to do is play along and get things over with..”
Ragatha looked a bit annoyed, but she wasn’t exactly mad at him so to speak.
“Yeah, yeah - whatever, dollface..
A whole day with you is enough to make anyone abstract.”
Jax realized this, and decided he was gonna fix that real quick.
“What the-
Hey!!”
She sat up and threw a heart-shaped pillow at him while he covered his face and chuckled to himself; ragebait successful.
But the two would abruptly halt their immature squabbling when Ragatha’s phone rang, she picked it up and looked at the incoming call.
“I-It’s Caine..”
Upon realizing who it was, her expression changed to one of terror.
“Gimme that!”
Jax, less startled and more irritated, snatched the phone off of her and answered the call himself.
“Gee, didn’t you talk to us like three seconds ago?”
He initiated the conversation in a rather rude, and informal manner. Sounding ever so snarky throughout.
“Hello, my dreaming d+[^%/•+£$¡!!
Just wanted in to quickly check in and see how things were going-“
Caine introduced his presence, or tried to at least, before the rabbit unceremoniously cut him off.
“Can you swap her with someone else?..”
Jax said something that made Ragatha visibly wince, and stopped Caine in his tracks.
Quite frankly, the sharply-dressed ringmaster was baffled, sensing such spite in the bunny’s tone - the lasting consequences of a broken friendship.
He wasn’t used to seeing Jax protest like this at all, usually he’d always just go along with these wacky adventures.
But things were clearly different this time around.. And Caine didn’t like it.
“Hah! Hahah! Hahahaha!“
Caine laughs maniacally, similar to what he did in the pilot.
“No can do, Jax!
I don’t know what’s wrong with you two, but you really need to work things out!”
Caine’s head phases through the phone screen, giving Jax a menacing death stare.
“Eugh.”
Jax gets unsettled by this and passes the phone back to Ragatha.
“Don’t worry, Caine. I’m sure we’ll figure something out?
And we’ll be a happily married couple in no time!“
Ragatha chimed in with a much more optimistic answer, telling Caine exactly what he wanted to hear in hopes of appeasing him; thankfully, it appeared to work as things got back on track.
“Great! Great news!
Now get dressed, and head to the self-driving car waiting outside the front door.
You’re going on a luxury trip to The Amazing Digital Mall!”
As such, Caine clued them in on what they were going to be doing now that they’d gotten up.
Jax and Ragatha exchanged glances for a moment; Ragatha was smiling with a somewhat hopeful expression, while Jax simply released a sigh of exhaustion.
