Chapter Text
The day he hatched Eclipse knew what he was born to do. His purpose was to kill Shadow the Hedgehog. His own brother. Yet, he yearned for a connection. The family they were both created by was broken. It always was.
When Shadow extended a hand to him he was so excited, he doesn't think he ever cried that hard.. Not when his master died the first time, or each time Shadow pushed him away previously.
Of course Black Doom casting him away hurt, but.. But he was never told that his master seeks to use his own child's body as a vessel. When his current body was perfectly fine! Like, he rebuilt it from a random mindless leach left in some space craft over fifty years ago! So if he wanted a body so powerful couldn't he just make it himself??
Whatever.. Eclipse has already been declared a disgrace to his own kind much like his older brother… He's been staying with him and his ‘teammates’ or whatever. He doesn't really care for them..
Rogue or whatever her name is has been trying to accommodate him and has been ‘nice’ to him. Mostly just being a little less pissy at him than she had been previously. Something about ‘respecting Shadow's choices.’
Eclipse doesn't want to be here, but he stays because of Shadow. Even if his brother ignores him most of the time. Kinda… Sometimes he talks to him or lets him help clean his noisy machine. But for the most part he doesn't give him the time of day.
He feels.. Unwelcomed here. Not that something like him could exactly belong.
Shadow looks like a normal Earthling, even if he's not. Eclipse feels everyone's eyes on him when they're all out and about. It works its way under his skin and eats away at his flesh.
He doesn't belong here.
Eclipse was so happy when his brother reached out to him. Despite them trying to kill each other so many times. Despite Eclipse having been so firmly on their problematic family's ‘awful’ ideations…
The Darkling laid nestled beneath his growing mass of anything soft and warm. Blankets, pillows, those weird stuffed toys he's seen earthling children play with. At first he thought he'd get in trouble for stealing.
However Rogue simply taught him how to do it without being caught. Weird lady…
He's been spending more and more time in the room they placed him in. Rearranging constantly to make it better, nicer. Just something to do so he doesn't have to leave his room and feel their scrutiny.
The Dark Arms came with him when he was cast out, he was the one who made them anyway so it makes since.. They're one of the few remnants of his old life.
Rhygenta worms her way under his arm, chirping as she nuzzles against him. He scratches the top of her head. He's been letting them roam around, Blurk enjoys the kitchen the most. He's their little garbage disposal. Heh.. Nothing goes to waste in there anymore once he found out just how many things were, in fact, edible. And he's eating slower! After much trial and error…
And his Dark Arms have stopped trying to eat Shadow's Chao! Again after much trial and error-
Adjusting to this weird place has been… Rough. But it'll be fine. Probably.
It wasn't like everything was awful, again Shadow's teammates weren't horrible to him or anything.
In fact the only problem was him.
That arrogant, noisy, obnoxious hedgehog that Shadow was oh so fond of. Of course not everyone could see it. But he could and his brother was enamored by that stupid blue hedgehog!
How he looked at him, how he spoke to him. How he even let him hug him. It wasn't fair!
He heard that voice again… He'd hear it sometimes at night, bugging his brother to go race because he can't sleep or whatever. He wants so badly to eat that stupid mouth off his face.
…
But he promised no more eating people.. Apparently that was wrong here? But Black arms did it all the time.. Just the basic food chain. Ugh this place is so confusing!
Slipping from his nest he stalks down the hallway to peak around the corner. Staring down the blue hedgehog who barged into his home. Again.
Literally why do they let him get away with entering their territory so flippantly???
That stupid blue hedgehog looks at him and smiles, waving. “Hey Eclipse!” Being so friendly, thinking he can lull him into a false sense of security much like his brother and teammates. Well he's no idiot! He's the ultimate weapon! He won't fall victim to his trickery!!!
He raises a clawed finger, points at his adversary then slowly drags his thumb across his neck. Staring the other down the whole while. Hoping to intimidate him.
The hedgehog’s eyes go momentarily wide before he chuckles. “Good to see you too buddy.” His smile dropped to an almost lazy smirk, the audacity.
Eclipse hates that Stupid hedgehog..
