Chapter Text
The Courier had gotten himself shot again, and unfortunately the only person around to help was Benny-Fucking-Gecko.
Maybe Six should've let the Legion's assassins actually kill him this time, it would save a lot of embarrassment. But no, instead they have a bullet wound the thigh and no way to patch it up, because someone got mauled by a deathclaw and needed the rest of them.
"You alright baby?"
Six looked over at Benny with a raised eyebrow, clutching the wound as blood steadily coats his fingers.
"I'll give you three guesses, and the first two don't count."
Benny chuckles awkwardly in response before kneeling down beside Six, he wasn't entirely unscathed from the encounter either, a bit banged up and bruised, but on the whole he was doing much better than Six.
"Move your hands so I can take a peek."
"Oh? Since when are you a doctor?"
"I'll have you know that I used to patch myself up better than any damn croaker you'll find out here"
"Sure, sure."
"Look, just gimme a second baby."
Six watches Benny look around the area before perking up and walking away coming back with several broc flowers and Xander root.
"You know that those legionaries probably have Healing powder on them already?"
Six asks tilting his head as he watches Benny start grinding up the plants, using an old mug Six had in their bag to hold it while using one of the many different spoons Six has swiped from various ruined homes, complaining under his breath about 'unideal conditions', before he looks at Six scoffing.
"Six, these jackasses wouldn't know how to make good healing powder if it hit them upside the head."
"And you would?"
"Well back when-"
Benny stops speaking for a moment before angrily looking at the mug and starting to try and grind the plants more aggressively responding with a curt.
"Yes."
Six watches him for a second more before sighing, knowing he wasn't gonna get anything else out of him for now.
Eventually Benny stops, the 'healing powder' looking more like a mush, but at this point Six was glad to have anything to ease the pain as Benny applies it silently to Six's leg.
"... Thanks"
"Don't mention it"
Six let's put a small groan as he tries to stand up, Benny moving to steady him, his brows furrowed as he supports most of Six's weight.
"What the hell do you think you're doing?"
"... Getting up?"
"On that leg?"
"... I mean we gotta get back to the strip"
"Jesus Christ- alright, no"
Benny grumbles as he picks Six up along with their bag, groaning over exaggeratedly as he starts walking towards the strip again.
"Couldn't you have avoided getting shot baby?"
Six looks up at him, utterly shocked as Benny carries him without hesitation.
"I-.... Uh-... No?"
"The Courier Six? Rendered Speechless? Why I never thought I'd see the day."
"Oh be quiet, I just never expected to see The Benny Gecko showing compassion."
"Hah. You fracture me baby."
Benny says sarcastically, continuing onward. Six looking up at Benny, his head rested against Benny's shoulder.
"... Sure you're not gonna overheat like this?"
"Really Baby? Doubting the head of the Chairmen?"
"Can you blame me, Mr. 'cant kill a guy he shot point blank.'"
"I will drop you"
Six laughs as he looks at Benny's scowl.
"You wouldn't."
"I would."
Six sighs before fidgeting with Benny's lapel.
"You still haven't actually answered my question."
"Fine, I am sure I won't overheat."
"Good."
The lapse into silence as Benny continues to walk, barely breaking a sweat as they continue to walk, getting closer and closer to the strip.
"... Baby your eyes are burning a hole into my head, what do you want to say."
"Just surprised at how well you're handling this."
"Well I was a Bootrider."
Six sighs as he hears the disdain in Benny's voice as he says that.
"And?"
"Well we were nomadic baby, and if there wasn't enough Brahmin to help haul things then we'd have to make due."
"Ah... Well... I ain't complaining."
