Summary
Raised on Catholic guilt and the stench of her stepfather, twelve-year-old Eliana Persephone Jackson discovers her ADHD and NOME are signs of her divine lineage. After a Minotaur attack she is thrust into Camp Half-Blood—a high-control cult for child soldiers—as a daughter of Poseidon. She immediately faces friction from her allies: the ego-driven Annabeth Chase and the paralyzingly anxious Grover Underwood. Accused of stealing Zeus’s Master Bolt, Persephone treks to the Underworld. While her companions falter, she finds a maternal mentor in Medusa (Auntie Em), who protects her from the gods’ whims. Under Medusa’s tutelage, Percy sharpens her blade and "Little Shit" sarcasm, realizing "monsters" are the only ones telling the truth. Treating the Olympians with the weary disdain of a corrupt parish council, she refuses to bow to a "Sky King" who can’t track his own jewelry.
