Work Text:
It had been a week.
Everything had been fine. Trinity went to work as per normal, interacted with her colleagues just fine, and she even managed to catch up with her charting. Everything was going fine.
Well, except for the awkward tension she had whenever she had with both Doctor Al-Hashimi and Yolanda. The day after that night, the attending had made breakfast for Trinity before ordering an uber home for her. That same afternoon, when Trinity was on the couch catching up with The L word, she had received a text from Yolanda asking to meet up in the evening. For the first time, Trinity made up an excuse that Dennis was coming back earlier.
Now, it had been exactly a week since she last texted Yolanda (and of course, had sex with her boss). The first day she had to come to work after that and report to Al-Hashimi, she could not help the stammer in her voice or meet her in the eyes. The doctor was perfectly fine though, pulling Trinity aside after realising that she was avoiding her.
“I hope this won’t affect our work,” the attending said again, her voice more firm than that night. “If it’s too uncomfortable for you I can let HR know and remove my-”
“I’m okay, I’m not uncomfortable. I promise it won’t affect my work.” Trinity swore to get her act up.
Thus, that was how she was sure she was acting perfectly normal towards Doctor Al-Hashimi (except for the few times her boss would flash a smile to her praising her work again and memories of that night would come back). However, she could work on that.
Yolanda Garcia on the other hand, she was still actively avoiding. It was unavoidable that she would have to work with her, especially when patients came in needing a surgery consultation. Still, when Yolanda did try to strike up conversations, Trinity made up excuses saying she had patients to deal with. That was how she had managed to avoid a week without communicating to Yolanda.
However, she supposed she was making it too obvious, because later that afternoon, four hours before her shift would be over, Yolanda had physically stopped her near the stairs, holding on tightly on Trinity’s arm.
“Is everything okay?” Yolanda questioned, and Trinity noticed the way her eyes softened with worry.
“Yea, of course.” Trinity replied back fast. She would do anything for the conversation to end.
“You’ve been avoiding me.” Yolanda was crossing her arms and glaring at Trinity.
“Sorry, I’ve just been busy, you know. With my charts and all.” That was a lie, but Trinity would do anything to leave this conversation. She knew their relationship was casual, but a part of her could not help but feel guilty that she had sex with someone else, especially someone from their workplace and was still actively seeing.
After a few moments of hesitation, Yolanda finally lowered her arms and sighed. “Okay. Are we on for tonight then?”
“Urm, can I get a rain check on that?” Trinity blurted out. She saw the way Yolanda's eyes widened almost immediately, and part of her could not help but feel a sense of achievement.
“Sure, text me before your shift ends then.” Trinity swore she could hear the disbelief in her voice.
“Yea, sure.”
Yolanda showed her a smile, before finally leaving, but not without leaving a small pat on Trinity’s shoulder and she swore she could feel her fingers brush against her neck. Trinity’s body shuddered involuntarily at the contact, and she could see a small grin on Yolanda’s face before she walked away.
If Trinity could die, she would choose to do so right now. She palmed her face, grumbling against her hands. She knew any other lesbian would take her place, to be clearly pinned between two women, and she would happily trade places with them.
“Everything okay?” She heard Dennis' voice behind her, causing her to let out a sigh before walking back to the ER, muttering a soft yes under her breath when she walked past him.
-
Time passed slower afterwards. Trinity refused to check her phone since her conversation with Yolanda. Thus, when Dennis had asked if she was going to leave with him, she hesitated for a while, checking the time on her phone, ignoring the notification that had been left unread since two hours ago. She told Dennis to wait for her before signing her patients off for the night shift and walked to her locker.
Exactly one week ago, she slept with someone that was not Yolanda, and had enjoyed it. She liked the guilt, liked how it felt like she was getting back at Yolanda for cancelling their plans, for wanting to stay casual. She knew how fucked up this was, yet part of her wanted it to happen again. She ignored the thoughts, focusing on packing her bag and getting the hell away from here before she could run into both of them.
“Doctor Santos.”
Trinity turned around and what met her were the same brown doe eyes she saw in the bar, in bed a week ago.
“Hey, can I help you?” Trinity gulped, pressing her back against her locker, facing the other woman.
“I’m just wondering, would you be free again tomorrow?” Al-Hashimi spoke in a honeyed, low tone, slowly approaching Trinity, closing the distance between them. Trinity swallowed hard, noticing how close their bodies were now. She could smell the same intoxicating perfume the brunette had used when they met at the bar a week ago and her damn hair was down again. Trinity had a morning shift the day after tomorrow.
She should say no.
She had to say no.
“Yea, of course.” God, had she always been this easy? Was this how she acted with Yolanda?
The attending smiled, finally backing away, leaving without saying anything and Trinity heaved a sigh of relief. Home felt like heaven to her right now. She could finally take a shower, lay on her couch and catch up with all her shows. Unfortunately, luck would never be on her side because when she looked up she saw fucking Yolanda Garcia leaning against the door with her arms crossed, raising her eyebrows.
“Wow, when I said casual, I sure did not expect you to choose Doctor Al-Hashimi over me.” Yolanda remarked and Trinity could only scoff in response. She slinged her bag around her shoulders, trying to leave but Yolanda had grabbed her arm while she was trying to walk out the door.
“Come on, Santos. Your boss, really?” Yolanda continued, her voice almost sounding like a growl. Did she sound upset? Trinity was in disbelief.
“I thought we were casual. Why would you care who I have sex with?” She snapped back, fully glaring back at the taller woman. Yolanda Garcia had no rights to question who Trinity slept with. She had asked to be casual first. She had cancelled their fireworks date, for another fucking woman. What rights did she have to get upset over who Trinity chose to have sex with? That was the whole point of being casual. Had she forgotten what she asked for in the first place?
“Did she make you come?”
Trinity thought she must have heard wrongly. She definitely did.
“I said, did she make you come?”
Okay, maybe she had not heard Yolanda wrongly and that pissed her off even more. Al-Hashimi was fucking right. Dennis Whitaker was right. She deserved better than this, than Yolanda who thought she could eavesdrop on her conversations and barge in here questioning her decisions. If she wanted the truth, she could have the truth. She jerked her arm away, freeing herself from Yolanda’s grip, before finally sneering at her.
“Yea, of course she did. Twice, even, with her fingers and her m-” Before she could finish, Yolanda had pushed her against the lockers, making a loud ‘thud’ sound and locking the door behind her.
“What the fuck Yolanda?” Trinity spat, trying to wiggle her body free. Yolanda’s grip on her shoulders was way too strong and the growing pain from the impact on her back was causing her efforts to be a waste. Her day was supposed to be going fine, but now she was pinned against the lockers, the handles pressing uncomfortably against her back and Yolanda’s face too fucking close to hers.
“Was she better than me?”
What the fuck? Was Yolanda Garcia fucking jealous? The woman who had asked to be casual. The woman who had clearly slept with other women. The Yolanda Garcia who was infamously sarcastic and mean to her coworkers. The Yolanda Garcia who had told Trinity to deal with her own problems before cancelling plans on the fourth of July. Trinity bit her lips, they were both staring at each other now.
“And what if she was?” Trinity deadpanned, which seemed to be the catalyst because Yolanda was suddenly pushing her own lips against Trinity. The kiss was far from romantic, different from every kiss they had shared, different from what she had with Al-Hashimi. This was messy, frantic and impatient. Yolanda's hands were digging into Trinity’s hips, their tongue and teeth colliding. She was kissing Trinity like she had been starved, and Trinity liked it.
“Fuck, Yolanda,” Trinity moaned between kisses, trying to pull away from her desperate lips, “We are still at work.”
She did not listen though. Her mouth was still frantic, knocking every breath Trinity had in her. She should stop this. It was fucked up, to be making out with the woman that had led her to her predicament, especially in the hospital. Anyone could walk in, Al-Hashimi could walk in.
“Someone could walk in,” she tried again, still struggling to free herself from Yolanda. Her hips, which Yolanda’s nails were digging into was starting to hurt.
“You would like that, won’t you?” Yolanda finally replied, moving her mouth down to press kisses to Trinity’s neck.
Trinity whined. She hated to admit it, but Yolanda was right. She was enjoying this. Her heart was racing, warming sensations pooled on her face and in her stomach. She could not think straight, slowly losing her strength to wiggle herself away from Yolanda’s grip. She was getting painfully aware of how uncomfortable her core was.
Trinity thought for a second she could be free when Yolanda removed one of her hands from Trinity’s hips, but that thought was soon crushed when the same hand moved down to cup at her cunt through her scrubs, causing her to let out a yelp.
“To be seen by Al-Hashimi? Your boss?” Yolanda continued, her thumb now shifted to press against Trinity’s clit. And Trinity really tried. She tried to hold back any sounds she would accidentally make. But when the woman was now drawing circles through her scrubs, Trinity could not stop the small whimpers that were escaping her mouth. She had not realised how loud she was getting until Yolanda was using her other hand to cover Trinity’s mouth.
“You’re too loud, Santos,” she warned.
That name again. Trinity knew Yolanda would never call her by her name. ‘Baby’, ‘Santos’, ‘Darling,’ those were what Yolanda always called her in bed, but never ‘Trinity’. Despite the tears that were forming in Trinity’s eyes, she still held eye contact with the other woman. She would not let her win.
“But I suppose she could walk in now and see how I make you come through your pants.” That really should not turn Trinity on as much as it did, but her whole body was now shaking as Yolanda’s thumb moved faster, hitting the right pace that was sending shocks down Trinity’s spine. Trinity came almost immediately after that, her body jerking and her spine arching forward as she collapsed onto the other woman. They stood in silence for a few seconds, the only sound between them was the sounds of Trinity’s breath, before Yolanda was now suddenly tugging Trinity’s scrubs down, exposing the hems of her underwear.
“Fuck, wait, Yolanda, I just came,” she hissed at the sudden feeling of a finger sliding into her too easily, before a second followed soon after.
“Twice you said? I’ll make you come three times then,” Yolanda groaned, and her fingers were fucking into Trinity’s cunt brutally. She was much rougher than Al-Hashimi, her voice was not as sweet and soft. Yolanda was not talking to her through it, unlike her boss. The only noise that was filling the room were her muffled moans and the wet sounds her cunt was making from how rough Yolanda’s fingers were pumping into her. Trinity was going to die today. The pressure in her core was spreading to her belly and her body, and she was getting close again.
“I’m gonna-fuck, cum a-again,” she barely managed breathed out and Yolanda removed her hand that was pressing onto her mouth, clashing both their lips together again, causing her to whimper at the contact. Trinity came apart again, riding out her second orgasm on the other woman’s fingers. Yet, Yolanda’s fingers never slowed.
“Wait, please, I can’t handle another one,” Trinity pleaded, the desperation in her voice sounding so foreign to her. Her hands were now weakly tugging at Yolanda’s arms, trying to stop the relentless movement of her hands in her cunt. Of course Yolanda would not listen, Trinity knew it too well. She always did what she wanted in bed, she would take and take till she was satisfied, and Trinity knew that the darkened look in her eyes meant she would not stop, despite her pleas.
“You can, Santos. Tell me, do I make you feel better than her?”
Trinity's brain might be fogged up, too overstimulated to think about anything, but her anger towards Yolanda would not disappear just because her fingers were currently buried deep into her. In fact, she was more pissed now, at her for mentioning Al-Hashimi.
“No, she was so much sweeter.” She placed emphasis on the last word, using every energy she had left in her to flash a smirk at the other woman. When Yolanda only hissed and added a third finger in response, her fingers somehow thrusting faster and deeper into her, Trinity had regretted the words that came out of her mouth. This time, however, the feeling that was pooling in her cunt was different. By the time Trinity had realised what was going on, there was a sudden gush of liquid, the wet noises coming from her cunt ramping up in volume, and Trinity was squirting on Yolanda’s hand, soaking her scrubs and her body spasming in ways she did not know it could do.
Yolanda’s movement finally slowed, slowly taking out her fingers from her cunt, bringing to her own mouth, and sucking it while keeping her eyes on Trinity. She thought Al-Hashimi going down on her while her doe eyes kept contact was the hottest thing she’s ever seen, but the sight before quickly replaced that.
“That was hot, Santos.” Yolanda grinned, and Trinity could sense the smugness in her face even with the lack of light the room had.
“Fuck you.” Trinity blurted out a few moments later, when she had finally caught her breath, her brain clearing up.
“I can’t believe you just did that!” She screamed, turning around to grab a new pair of pants from her locker.
“Did you forget? You’re the one that cancelled our firework date last fucking week! You’re the one that asked to be fucking casual!” She continued, putting on her pants, ignoring how damp her underwear felt.
“What fucking rights do you have to come in here, acting all jealous just because I slept with someone else, like you always do!” Her voice was growing hoarse, trying to blink away the tears that were building up in her eyes. She was grateful for how dark the room was currently, allowing her to hide her sour expression on her face.
“You enjoyed it though, did you not?” Yolanda only replied, crossing her arms and keeping her eyes on Trinity’s.
Trinity huffed, furrowing her brows. Was Yolanda deaf? Did she lack understanding skills? Was she even listening? That was not the point, in fact that was not what Trinity had even said. Sure, as much as Trinity hated to, she could admit to herself how much she liked it, liked how Yolanda was rough and filled with possessiveness. But that was not the fucking point, and she was damn well never going to tell that to her.
“Look, I’m sorry, okay? I just didn’t like someone else, especially Al-Hashimi, touching you,” Yolanda sighed, her fingers pressing against her temple. Trinity wished she had imagined the sincerity in her voice, which would make it easier for her to cut it off. She should cut it off, tell her that they were done, that they should not meet anymore and leave.
Instead, Trinity replied, “You’re an asshole,” before pushing past Yolanda and leaving the room, refusing to look back.
If Trinity learnt something from this whole week, it was that life was an absolute bitch to her. Trinity knew her feelings had always been one sided, but part of her refused to admit it. She had hoped maybe something was changing after 10 months of them being together. Maybe her tolerating the multiple ramen in bed, cancelling all her plans every time Yolanda had asked to meet would change how the other woman viewed their relationship. That was why Trinity had felt a sudden pang of guilt the day after having sex with Al-Hashimi, when she was more sober. It felt like she was cheating on Yolanda. She laughed at the absurdity of the situation, at herself. Despite everything, she still could not bring herself to let Yolanda go.
When she reached the waiting room, she saw Dennis still waiting for her, barely able to keep himself awake. She knew he had always been too kind, she never deserved his empathy.
“Why haven’t you left?” She questioned, shaking him awake, causing Dennis to flinch, widening his eyes before softening it after realising it was Trinity.
“You told me to wait,” he grumbled, standing up. “Everything okay?”
“Yeah, sorry, let’s go.” Trinity would tell him, one day, but not now. She just wanted to go home.
-
When she was finally back home, lying on her bed, time past midnight, she had decided to check her phone, which had been left untouched since the afternoon. There were multiple notifications, one from an unknown number. She clicked on it.
I saw Dr Garcia enter the room after I left. I hope everything is okay.
This is Baran, by the way.
Trinity hesitated for a moment, thinking if she should reply. Her mind went back on its own to Yolanda, to the locker room and she grumbled.
Hi Dr Al-Hashimi, everything’s fine. Thank u for asking.
She cringed at herself for trying to sound professional. The attending read the message almost immediately, and Trinity swallowed nervously when she saw her typing.
You can call me Baran. I hope we are still on for tomorrow.
Trinity deserved better, someone that would be nicer than Yolanda. She needed someone to take her mind off her, to make her forget.
Yea, of course.
