Chapter Text

Raven didn't know how she didn't up here.

Here, as in, playing an important role in Apple White's life–she always thought it was a glitch in the system of friendship, or unrequited love.

That's a funny word to say aloud.

Unrequited love–it's when you have feelings for someone but they don't reciprocate the same way. It's a hurtful and drastic thing in their stories.

Raven loved Apple, but the blonde doesn't love her.

Apple hated Raven for ruining everything in her life, she ruined Legacy Day, they had a heart aching argument in the dragon stables that one time after she set the whole arena ablaze when it even wasn't her fault and fuck The Evil Queen and Snow White.

In movies or old films, the villain is usually the antagonist who's a teenager, posing as someone who's a monster and a delirious beast. The Evil Queen wasn't like those films, she's done terrible things to her daughter, very, very terrible things.

Sure, Raven can handle the verbal abuse at the authorities of Apple White, repeatedly calling her selfish, but her mother's a different fairytale.

She's a cold-blooded woman who's been divorced, or cheated on. Nobody looks into the life of her, not even her own daughter; you'd think Raven might have some dirt on her but she doesn't.

The school was hushed in low whispers when they saw the girl freed from her secluded cage, some of the adults still treated her like she was shit, but Maddie and Lizzie were happy to see her back in classes she shared with them.

Apple, on the other hand, was on the last brink of insanity–she's getting more self-aware with Raven's eyes and how they're symbolic.

With her other friends, they're like – indigo, vibrant, and especially not emotionless when they lock in Apple's vision.

Her eyes were dark and mysterious when she was around the blonde, there's no hostility for death when they're together but fuck she feels like dying everytime she sees her in the halls, chippy, happily engrossed in a deep conversation with Briar.

She wanted to be Apple's pillow, her pills she has to take–she wanted to be her flames – the type of flames that spark on the end of fireworks, that's the type of flame she's thinking of. Raven's trying to reach her through voice mail but nothing comes.

Fucking nothing

Raven lit the cigarette she's holding in between her middle finger and index – the smoke she was holding goes with the wind, the sparking stub was a beautiful glow in the night, she doesn't hear her roommate's footsteps on the carpet. Immediately, another shoulder blade brushed against hers and she rolled her eyes.

“What the fuck do you want,” Raven spat, blood drained from her muscles and into her heart, she can't stand it when Apple made her feel things she's not supposed to, she's supposed to be fucking evil for crying out loud – but she isn't signing that damn book, that's for sure.

Apple hesitated. “You're off, it's like, you're disconnecting from the world – me, especially me.” She said wetly, but no tears are about to fall down, not yet. Her hands were shaking while they were open for something. Maybe, fucking maybe for Raven's soft, calloused hands.

Raven laughed bitterly. “Oh, you want my subtleties back? After all the shit you put me through? Let me guess, you must want me to kiss you senseless again too, huh?” She wasn't expecting to say that last bit – oh fuck her.

Apple's head was spinning with a multitude of emotions when Raven kissed her again, the cigarette was forgotten while the Rebel had her hands greedily–almost possessively–gripping Apple's waist, her hands were getting dangerous now. Apple looked star-dazed when she pulled back, red lipstick was smeared everywhere, even on her collarbone.

“Seriously, what the fuck do you want?” Raven's hovering over her with both hands gripping the end of the bed, she smelled like cigarettes and Apple's perfume too, and her mouth was searching for a spot to bite Apple, there's no thoughts behind her head anyways, she's becoming devoted to her.

“Don't start fucking hesitating now, princess, you're little Rebel is back safe and sound, now I'm gonna ask you again –”

“I wanted you!” Apple said uncharacteristically sad, her eyes were glassy with her own tears and mascara and fuck, Raven hated seeing her like this – all weak and not… strong, harsh, and maybe even bitter towards her. “I fucking wanted you! Can't you open your eyes and see how much I care about you?!” Apple spat out venomously, “You're going to poison me one day, you're going to be the one to kill me, you're my –”

Raven doesn't say anything. Her tears fell onto Apple's skirt and chest as she collapsed into her lap for a hug she's been aching for since she left her alone, she hiccuped and sobbed uncontrollably when Apple rubbed her back for comfort; then they kiss again, this time it was softer than last night – their love couldn't be broken even if the world stopped due to a disaster, they caused the disaster with their affection for each other.

Raven's lips were the softest thing about her body, including her eyebrow and nose piercing she had. Apple loved to compliment her when she has the chance to.

For some reason, when Apple opened her eyes, she heard familiar screaming, her eyes widened as she jolted upwards, Raven's being dragged out of their dorm by Headmaster Grimm – she let out an unconstrained scream and tried to tell him to stop.

“YOU'RE HURTING HER! HEADMASTER GRIMM STOP!” She tried to pull onto Raven's waist as she tries to thrash away from his strong grip, and she can't move.

Raven could've sworn she woke up in the dungeon again with nothing to eat or drink, her head felt dull and her eyes were sore by the amount of times she's stayed awake and wanted for Apple to come rescue her like she's the damsel in distress in their story – instead of tape on her mouth this time, they had a muzzle from somewhere, maybe it's the one they used on her dragon, Nevermore, maybe? Her bones are slightly breaking by the weight of the chains this time, they updated the restraining on her – but she isn't surprised.

On the other side of the door, Apple's standing tall with a torch and dagger, but the dagger isn't for Raven; it's for the heavy-weight muzzle they had on her mouth.

I'm gonna get you out of here one way or another, Raven Queen. I don't care how much trouble I'll be in afterwards.

You are my trouble, my spark in flames, and you're not my friend anymore – you're my unrequited love that I've been to scared to admit to.
