Summary
Sklonda never imagined she would be sitting in the stands of a high school’s bloodrush field, crammed between students and other parents in the bleachers, waiting for her own son to emerge onto the grass.
But here she is.
As he makes his way out from the tunnel, she wants to cheer—to scream ‘that’s my son!’—but what would embarrass him more? Having no one cheer at all or having his mother be the only one to yell and shout as he emerges? It turns out, she doesn’t have to worry about those possibilities because the moment he charges out, the bleachers explode with noise and sound.
