The rest of Lin Ling’s night was supposed to be a straightforward one:
Buy copious amounts of alcohol.
Drink until all the lights go out.
If he wakes up, crawl into work the next morning.
Three steps, simple and easy. Lin Ling had repeated them so long that his routine became second nature. Ironically, this repetition was likely the reason behind Lin Ling’s lack of awareness toward the unexpected obstacle in his path. Clinging to the walls of buildings and keeping his head down when navigating the city had never failed him before. Why today had to be different was beyond him, but now there was a leg to trip over and a guy far too out of it to blame for Lin Ling’s bag tearing open and littering his things all over the slush-ridden sidewalk.
