Work Text:
You open your eyes with a heavy sigh, feeling the rumbling of your stomach. A soft blanket covers you from head to toe, pinning you to the bed with its warmth and coziness. Your mind, still partially tangled in a dream, contemplates two options. You could just stay here, warm and snug, and continue sleeping like you really should, or…
Growl…
Or you could sneak towards the kitchen and find something to snack on. With the amount of food you ate for dinner, you’d think you’d be full. But just a mere thought of Simeon’s cooking makes your body act on its own.
Your feet carefully step on the floor, and you head in the direction of the door. Nothing bad is going to happen if you eat a little piece of that cake, right? Maybe a couple of pieces…
The Purgatory Hall is fully immersed in the night hours, but even with the lights off, it looks just as cozy as always. You are all too familiar with these corridors and halls, so it’s easy to find your way even in the darkness. The moon shines brightly through the windows as countless snowflakes swirl outside. You stand and observe the scene for a few moments, feeling the temperature drop the closer you lean towards the glass. The house is well-protected from cold winds and snow. There is something magical about the difference of the atmosphere inside and outside your shelter. Just like the denizens of the Purgatory Hall, the building itself makes you feel welcomed and cherished. Was it always like this? Or did Simeon and Solomon make it such a comforting place?
Tonight’s sleepover is one of many, and each time it gets more difficult to leave. The guest room now officially belongs to you. And almost half of your stuff is scattered around the Purgatory Hall, creating the illusion that you inhabit these walls alongside the two angels and the sorcerer.
An especially strong gust of wind bashes against the glass, letting the chill slip through tiny cracks of the old window. You shiver and step away, retreating into the dark corridors. The Purgatory Hall immediately hugs you with its warmth as the temperature of the air returns to normal. But you still can’t shake off the cold from your body, making you crave a more corporeal hug.
Your eyes wander in the direction of two bedrooms down the corridor. You stare at the dark brown door of Simeon’s room but ultimately shake your head and move to the next one. The angel is the most diligent guy you know; he must be sound asleep. It would be a shame to disturb his rest just because you got a bit lonely. Besides, sometimes it’s hard to predict whether Simeon will join you in your shenanigans in earnest or gently scold you instead.
But you can always count on Solomon to support any of your ideas with great enthusiasm. You smile to yourself as your fist carefully knocks on the white door. As expected, it didn’t take long for Solomon to open it and peek outside without any traces of sleepiness on his face. You glance behind his shoulder, examining an interrupted alchemical experiment. Solomon is at it again, working in the dead of night. But it’s not like you have any place to judge, especially tonight.
“Sorry, am I interrupting something?” you ask, moving your gaze back at the sorcerer’s face.
“Of course not. You know that you’re always welcome to interrupt me no matter what I do.” Solomon gives you one of his on-brand charming smiles, making your heart quiver. A silly thought flashes in your mind, that you’re lucky to be a human and not a demon. Otherwise, you’d be trapped in a pact with the sorcerer the second you saw this gentle expression on his face. “Come in.” Solomon steps to the side, opening you the way into his room.
“Actually, I was hoping to invite you for a walk.” You smile, secretly fighting the urge to come inside and distract Solomon from his work some other way. Your gaze slips back to his lips as you ponder whether you’re actually that hungry or you can endure till morning. It shouldn’t be too hard, especially if Solomon volunteers to distract you…
“For a walk?” Solomon lets his surprise show for only a second before he nods readily and steps out of his room, closing the door behind his back. “Sure, let’s go. Do you have a specific place in mind, or should I pick one? There is a new restaurant that serves presumably angelic and human food. I heard they work all night. Also, according to my calculations, there should be a meteor shower in about 20 minutes on the other side of the Devildom. I can conjure us a teleport and…”
You let him spill his ideas at you for just a bit longer, enjoying his enthusiasm. Solomon was always into planning your dates. He seemingly loves the preparation stage just as much as he loves the rendezvous themselves. And you know for a fact that he has a hefty notebook with the list of events and places he wants to visit with you. So you feel a little bad when you have to stop his brainstorming session.
“Sorry, but I had something more… domestic in mind. Like a walk to the kitchen, for example? If you’re hungry, of course.” That restaurant sounds enticing, but you’re still not eager to leave the shelter of the Purgatory Hall. With Solomon the trip there would be swift and comfortable, but tonight you want to stay at home.
Home. You smile at your thoughts. Yes, it seems you’re really thinking of this place as home now.
“Oh, of course. Sorry, I got carried away.” Solomon’s smile doesn’t waver even for a moment. This man is clearly happy to do anything, as long as you’re enjoying yourself. Both of you start moving towards the kitchen, making sure to keep your voices low to avoid disturbing Simeon and Luke. “I could prepare something for you. How about pizza? I recently found a very simple recipe, which I improved with a couple of secret ingredients. I was looking forward to you trying it.”
“Oh.” You feel a shiver running down your spine. “Well, I think we should eat everything that Simeon prepared first. The fridge is packed with food; we really shouldn’t cook any more.”
“Right,” Solomon agrees easily as you sneakily let out a relieved sigh. The sorcerer chuckles softly, whispering to you, “Simeon told me that he got too excited when he heard that you were coming and even staying over. He was cooking the whole day and didn’t notice how he went overboard. When he finally stopped, it was too late.”
“I feel like it happens every time I come over,” you note softly.
It warms your heart that Simeon gets so excited to see you, no matter how many times you stop by. It’s a relief that he’s just as crazy about you as you are about him. Sometimes you wonder if you come off as too clingy when you visit the Purgatory Hall so often. Both Solomon and Simeon are very busy people, with their alchemical experiments and writing deadlines; you’d hate to interrupt their work. But at this point in your relationship, you have no choice but to believe that they’ll always be happy to spend time with you, no matter what. And this feeling is very much mutual. It’s a very liberating sentiment that lets all three of you pour all your love at each other without unnecessary overthinking. There is a lot of trust in your relationship.
Well, in most aspects. You’re still not quite ready to trust in Solomon’s cooking skills.
“Are you absolutely sure that you don’t want pizza? I swear, it’ll only take a few minutes to prepare it,” Solomon offers over the shoulder as he dives into the fridge.
“Yes, I’m completely sure.” You smile tensely. It’s almost a good thing that Solomon has this major flaw. If you had to date two ideal men instead of one, you’d spontaneously combust from too much pressure.
“Got it! So we will go with something else then. How about a cake? We three will finish it in no time.”
“Three?” you mumble just before being embraced from behind by Simeon. He presses his chest against your back, letting you feel the heat of his body. He’s much hotter than usual, which probably means that he crawled out of his warm bed mere seconds ago. Solomon is still staring into the fridge in search of the right food, so you have no idea how he noticed Simeon’s arrival faster than you.
“What are you up to, hm?” Simeon’s whisper comes off softer and lower. His voice is still a bit hoarse from sleep. He nuzzles against your hair and breathes out in satisfaction, pressing himself closer to you. Simeon's hands rest on your stomach, interlocking fingers and securely trapping you in a hug. The angel is still a bit sleepy; he leans on you mindlessly, forgetting to control how much weight he puts on you. But you readily straighten up and support his relaxed body with your own.
“Did we wake you up? I’m sorry,” you say quietly. Your fingers caress his hands in a more intimate apology. You feel Simeon shaking his head as he still presses his face against your hair.
“No, don’t worry. A branch of a tree was hitting my window, so I woke up. It doesn’t usually do that, but today’s wind is incredibly strong. Then I heard a commotion in the kitchen, so here I am.”
“Yes, the wind really is terrible today,” Solomon says with a suspiciously coy voice. He straightens up, holding a big plate with a cake on it, and turns towards you. “Lord Diavolo’s conjured snow is usually much tamer than this. It seems the wind brought more clouds, and now we have a real storm on our hands. At this rate the entire Purgatory Hall will be covered in snow. Even the exit door might be blocked. It’s a good thing we’re always prepared to take care of our adorable guest here, no matter how long it takes.”
You’re just about to remark that he can easily conjure a portal if the need arises, but Simeon speaks up first.
“What is this?” The angel settles his chin on your shoulder and squints his eyes at the cake. You can feel his irritated huff with the sensitive skin of your ear. “If you two are hungry, I’ll heat up some soup. Eating cakes at night is a bad idea.”
“Come on, nothing will happen from one piece…” Solomon rolls his eyes, but Simeon has already let you go and approached the sorcerer. He determinately takes the plate from Solomon’s hands and puts it back into the fridge, getting out a large bowl full of soup instead.
“Now give me a second to warm this up.” The angel turns to you with a gentle smile, ignoring Solomon’s pouting. He quickly pours the soup into three smaller bowls and closes his eyes, concentrating on a spell. A gust of magical hot air envelopes the dishes and steadily heats up the food within.
While the angel is busy, Solomon locks eyes with you. He winks mischievously and gestures for you to open your mouth. Not sure what he wants, you reluctantly do as he asks, immediately feeling a little piece of a sweet treat landing on your tongue. Solomon smirks and sneakily chews on his own part of the cake. He effortlessly teleports the cake into your mouth piece by piece, without the need to open the fridge and risk Simeon’s wrath. He slides around the kitchen preparing the table for all three of you, all while continuously feeding you the forbidden dessert. Solomon’s bustling movements hide the fact that he casts any spells at all. So even when Simeon opens his eyes and settles the bowls on the table, he doesn’t notice anything unusual. You munch on the treat as carefully as you can, and it seems this time you and Solomon manage to get away with your cheeky schemes.
Solomon nudges Simeon as he notices the third bowl. “For all your lectures, you’re hungry too, huh?”
“I just want to enjoy your company a bit longer, and I feel like being the only one who is not eating would be awkward.” Simeon smiles shyly. Then he sighs and admits, “Though, truth be told, I am tempted by both the company and the food. This soup turned out exceptionally well, if I do say so myself. So yes, I’ll join you, if you don’t mind.” He looks at both of you with fake defiance and frowns jokingly. Solomon and you only snicker in response, assuring him that he can eat whatever and whenever he wants.
All three of you sit down at the table and enjoy the meal in shared comfortable silence. Some meals deserve to be savored without distractions, and Simeon’s creations always have top-notch quality. The warmth of the soup, the powerful wind behind the window, the snowflakes dancing in the air, and the proximity of your two favorite men make you relaxed and sleepy. Your mind wanders as you melt into the cozy atmosphere, allowing this moment to lull you into the state of peace and serenity. You try to remember all the little details and sensations that surround you, hoping to relive this scene in your memories later.
Like Simeon’s satisfied humming on your left and Solomon’s thoughtful sigh on your right. The angel simply enjoys the meal while Solomon stares into the bowl, no doubt remembering all the ingredients to try to cook for you the same soup later. With a few improvements, no doubt.
“What are your plans for tomorrow?” Simeon asks softly once all of you are done with the meal. Solomon’s magic levitates the bowls towards the sink, turns on water, and starts washing the dishes. “Or, I guess, what are your plans for today? It’s almost morning already.”
“I thought about moving the rest of my stuff into the Purgatory Hall,” you say carefully, waiting for Solomon and Simeon’s reactions. “If you and Luke don’t mind, of course.”
But judging from the wide and relieved smiles these two give you, they don’t mind in the slightest.
“I’m sure Luke will be happy to hear the news. As do I.” Simeon moves closer and envelopes you with his arms, pressing you against his chest. You can feel his fast heartbeat that betrays his perfectly calm demeanor.
Once the angel lets go of you, you get pulled backwards in a hug that almost makes you fall from your chair. Solomon grabs you from behind and captures your lips in a kiss, breathing out happily into your mouth.
“I think it’s safe to say that Solomon is also happy about your decision.” Simeon says as he rests his head on the arm, watching both of you with a gentle smirk.
“Right,” Solomon chuckles and lets you go, fixing his hair in an attempt to compose himself with this routine gesture. “Right. Oh, look!” He suddenly points at the window. The powerful swirling of snowflakes slows down right before your eyes as the wind subdues within seconds. Now the snow falls down slowly, promising a pleasant number of snowdrifts rather than a logistical disaster on the roads. “Looks like the weather is getting significantly better. We won’t be trapped in the house after all. So, let’s move your stuff first thing in the morning.” Solomon smiles brightly at you, shining with enthusiasm.
After you’re done with your late-night snacks, Simeon takes you by the hand and leads you down the corridor, towards his bedroom. It’s a silent offer that you accept readily, squeezing his hand tighter. Your other hand is gripping firmly on Solomon’s arm, making sure that he follows you instead of diving into his room and continuing working until dawn. The sorcerer only smirks and hastens his steps, getting to Simeon’s bed first and dropping on it like it belongs to him. Simeon and you get pulled along and drop on top of Solomon with barely contained shared laughter.
You fall asleep between the angel and the sorcerer, feeling Simeon’s gentle kisses on your hair and forehead and Solomon’s hands on your torso as he embraces you from behind. They lightly caress you until you slowly slip into the dreamworld, lulled by their love for you.
