    Summary

“Now,” Aizawa continued, “there’s one last type of Hero and Hero license. The least well-known, as even their existence is kept intentionally secretive. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?”
The whole class went remarkably silent, friends trading nervous glances with each other and refusing to look Aizawa in the eye.
“The final type of Hero,” Aizawa said, “are the Undercover Heroes.”

    Summary

He squinted, tilting his head and trying to read the sigil under the light. It looked like an awakening sigil, the sort of thing that one would see at the base of the statue guardians who watched over the cities or like the giant sigils on the core of the colossuses. At the center of the sigil, as the focus for the whole magical array, was the single character ‘shō’. Erase.
Without allowing himself a moment to second-guess, Hizashi took a deep breath and leaned towards the gargoyle. The arcanascript tattoos on his neck slowly flooded with brilliant canary-yellow light that contrasted sharply against the rich golden magic on the sigil. With magic infusing every syllable and breath, Hizashi whispered, “Erase”.

Or: Hizashi's students issue him a challenge; get one of the city's statues - their most powerful line of defense in a crisis - to pass as human. He takes them up on it.

    Summary

It was like looking in a mirror.
The songling had a long, serpentine tail, dark on the top and paler on the bottom, with short stripes of much brighter color. He had much longer gills than was usual, coiled in a wild nest around his head with fimbriae writhing in the water. His face was even shaped the same, hard and angular with only faint lingering touches of guppy softness to differentiate them.
If the songling hadn’t been half a dozen shades of purple from head to tail, Shouta might have suspected someone had cloned him somehow.

    Summary

Summary: The foreboding feeling in Shouta’s chest grew larger and larger, like a void of ink from a startled squid. Had this guppy been raised by humans? Shouta knew of some humans who might be able to pull that off successfully – some of the more empathetic, hands-on members of the Musutafu Singer Outreach Facility – but nothing about the poachers that had captured him pointed to them knowing the first thing about raising a fingerling.

    Summary

Together, the symbols could mean only one thing, and suddenly everything made sense.
The narrow, unornamented gate so near the center of the city, the chill inherent in the room and the power in the man’s voice, even the Hunter’s terror when facing him. He wasn’t a fair folk. He was a priest.
A priest of Aizawa, God of Reason and Death.

Or: Hitoshi escapes from the changeling cells under the king’s palace and stumbles upon the most terrifying – and most effective – protector he possibly could have found. Coincidence? We'll see...
