Chapter Text
Christopher Smith.
A big jock type guy of Evergreen College– The kind of one that was hated by every man that wasn’t in his fraternity, but loved by every woman outside his fraternity. At least in his eyes. On campus, Alpha Sigma Phi, was the worst fraternity. They were cruel, annoying, and all thought they were top shit. But no matter how much they were all hated, tons and tons of people desperately wanted to be in it.
Why?
The Alpha Sigma Phi members were top shit. The hazing rituals were cruel, but it was worth it once you were in.
Chris remembers his hazing ritual. He had to go and beat up another student in nothing but his underwear. Which, he really didn’t mind. It had a few more things included that he hated to recall– But it placed him at the top of the food chain, which was especially useful now.
And the best part about Alpha Sigma Phi? They threw the best parties.
Chris was excited for today. It was the day they were getting new recruits, and for some reason, humiliating a vulnerable classmate of his was the thrill of his day. It sometimes weirded himself out at how excited he would get, but he came to the conclusion he got it from his dad. His dad, who really didn’t approve of the major that Chris chose. Music, alongside art history. But that was just one of the other classes he took. His friends often mocked him for it too, but they’d stop if he threatened to beat the shit out of them. They always referred to it as gay. He found it funny, but they meant it in a negative way. What was so bad about two boys kissing?
His classmates brought in the ‘victims’, Chris taking all of their appearances. They all looked like regular people, except for one. Some guy who looked really young. “Jesus fuck, how old are you?”
The guy who was asked was pretty short. He wore glasses and had dark brown hair, his voice rather… Higher pitched than anyone else his age as he replied. “I just turned 20 a week ago.”
The fraternity members burst out laughing. They watched as the boy looked down, his face flushed with pink. That only made them laugh more. “Oh my god, have you even gone through puberty? You sound like a fucking mouse. What’s your name?” They asked bluntly.
The boy cleared his throat, trying to make it deeper. “Adrian. Adrian Chase.”
It was like it never stopped. They laughed more and more, tears forming in their eyes. Chris stared at Adrian, his laugh dying down. “Oh my god, you wouldn’t happen to have an older brother named Gut, would you?”
Adrian nodded, his posture straightening. He remembered Chris. Barely, but… He remembered seeing him around his house. He thought Chris was so cool.
“Holy shit! That’s Gut’s gay younger brother! The one who has the thimble penis!” Chris laughed as he did a little indication with his fingers.
Adrian glanced down for a moment, feeling a hand lifting his chin up. He met Chris’ gaze, who had a smirk on his face. “We know just how to haze you.”
Next thing he knew, Adrian was shirtless and having beer forced down his throat. He could feel the liquid dripping all over him, feeling as the drops rolled past his chest and fell down his boxers. The fraternity had forced Adrian onto his knees, the beer going down his throat until he started choking on it. Chris, the ringleader of the activity, stepped back. He looked at how wasted Adrian was. “We have one more thing for you to do before you’re accepted.”
Adrian was rocking back and forth, saliva falling out of his mouth. The frat boys pulled him up, taking him outside. They stopped behind a few trees, Adrian barely even able to keep his eyes open. He rubbed his eyes, feeling hands grab his face. His eyes darted towards Chris at first, before he was forced to look at someone who was sitting in the college garden.
Rip Jagger.
“If you wanna get into our Alpha Sigma Phi, you have to go and make fun of that guy. However you want.” Chris laughed, patting Adrian on the back. The boy was still in nothing but his boxers, his chest still soaked from all the beer. He could feel the wind breeze, nodding as he took a few steps forward.
Adrian stumbled towards Rip Jagger, a small boy who was eating a bag of cheetos. As soon as Adrian saw him, he laughed. “Wow, you’re tiny!!”
He barely saw as Rip looked upwards, the man gripping his cheetos tighter. He was silent, Adrian taking the silence as an invitation to keep going. “Does Santa know one of his elves escaped?” He laughed, way harder than the Alpha Sigma Phi boys did when they heard Adrian’s voice.
As Adrian kept piling on and on, Rip had enough. He placed his cheetos down and lunged at Adrian, knocking the man over. Adrian’s scream was high pitched, the screams only getting worse as Rip decided to punch him over and over.
Over by the trees, Chris and his frat bro’s were laughing like a pack of hyena’s. Every shriek Adrian let out was like music to their ears. Unfortunately, being absolutely hammered and getting your shit rocked was an awful combo.
“Fuuuuuuuuuck!!!!!!!!!!! You winnnn!!” Adrian slurred, Rip giving one final punch towards his face before he watched the boy pass out. He looked up, seeing that the other fraternity boys had fled the scene. Rip stood up and sighed, spitting on Adrian before he left him alone in the open yard.
A new day for Evergreen College. And a new day meant… A new humiliation.
The bell rang for everyone's first classes– Leota Waller was hurrying in, being accidentally late. Again. It turns out she wasn’t the only one who was late, a bunch of people rushing and bumping past her as they ran in, all of them headed towards a giant crowd.
She decided to follow the crowd, making her way to the front. She saw a guy in nothing but his boxers lying on the grass with a puddle of vomit next to him. Everyone was laughing, taking photos.
“Oh my god.” She mumbled. She stared at the boy for a few moments, watching as he woke up and scurried away in embarrassment. She had a frown on her face. Part of her wanted to go help him, but another part was telling her he was some asshole frat boy and he probably deserved it.
Leota Waller. Daughter of Amanda Waller, who worked for the government of the United States. Truth be told, Leota wasn’t the biggest fan of her mother. She was a sweetheart, and while her mother was kind to her, she really didn’t like how her mother had treated other people. Criminals, mainly. Yes, they were horrible people. But they were all still human!
Her first class of the day was Spanish. She didn’t really know why she picked it… More of a blow-off class? As she stepped into the classroom, she was almost positive that everyone else had too. She first noticed someone who was sitting towards the back. A shorter girl who had long blonde hair, and looked like she was about to pass out. She spotted an empty seat, making her way towards the back before she was called out by the teacher.
“Miss Waller, just because you paid your way into the school doesn’t mean you’re above anyone else. Why were you late?”
Leota gave the teacher a confused look. She didn’t pay her way in there, she worked just as hard as anyone else did to get into that school. Maybe even harder than some…
“Sorry, my… My alarm didn’t go off this morning.” She said quietly, feeling her teacher’s eyes burning into the back of her head as she made her way to her seat.
As Leota sat beside the blonde girl, her eyes flickered over. The girl was pale, small and rather petite. She also noticed that she had her knuckles wrapped up. She stared for a few moments, looking away as she saw the blonde’s head turn.
“Can I help you?” She asked, her tone blunt. Leota shook her head.
As she was looking away, she took the opportunity to look at who else was sitting in her row. 3 men. At the end, a jock-type guy. He looked annoying. A smaller boy with light brown hair and glasses… The one she saw in the open yard from earlier? She saw he had bruises on him. Did the girl beside her beat him up? As her gaze flickered to the man next to her, she had to physically look up. He was tall. Like, tall to a concerning amount. He was ginger and had glasses, her gaze lingered before she looked back at the front.
As the class carried on, it was so boring. Leota had her chin resting on her hand, almost falling asleep. She perked up when her teacher spoke again.
“In your rows, you’ll be working on a group project. You have until the end of the week.”
As their teacher explained, Leota glanced down at her row. She saw how… Unbothered everyone else was.
They were so fucked.
As the bell rang, Leota waited for everyone else to leave before she spoke up to her group. “Where should we do the assignment?”
Chris spoke up, snickering. “I reckon we should let the nerd do it.” He said, pointing towards the taller dude.
‘I have a name.” He said, rather loudly. “It’s John.”
“Dooon’t care.” Chris folded his arms.
“We could just go to the library. At least for tonight.” Emilia spoke up, folding her arms. She glanced at Chris, and she could feel his eyes looking her up and down. She shot him a glare.
John glanced at Adrian for a moment, before glancing at the door. “Are you the guy who’s photo’s pasted all around school?”
Before Adrian could reply, Chris cut him off. “Yup. He’s got a tiny penis, too. Feel free to tell that to all your friends.”
John gave Chris a weirded out expression, Chris continuing to talk. “And, no offense. But I don’t know how comfortable I feel working with someone who’s the daughter of a government official.” He folded his arms, nodding his head towards Leota.
“What the hell am I gonna tell her?? It’s not like anything illegal’s going on in Spanish class.” Leota said, her face scrunching up in disgust.
“Oh, but there was something illegal in Chris’ frat house last night. He made me underage drink.” Adrian stepped forward, drinking. When he saw Chris glaring at him, he cleared his throat. “Ha! Got you! It was just apple juice he gave me.”
“I seriously don’t care.” Leota sighed, Adrian nodding and stepping back. “Whatever, I’m gonna be late to class.”
As she walked off, everyone else left too, but Chris and Emilia were the last to leave. As they exited, Chris looked at Emilia. “So, do you wanna–”
“No.”
“...Okay.”
As lunch hit, Adrian was walking down the halls right beside Chris, striking up conversation as they headed towards the cafeteria. “So, am I in the fraternity?”
Chris let out a sigh. He ripped a picture off a wall that was of Adrian in his boxers, shoving it in his hands. “Fine. But you better not fuck up our reputation like that again.” His tone was annoyed, despite the fact that he was the one who left Adrian in that position.
Adrian looked down at the papers in his hands, pausing for a moment. He threw it in the bin, catching up. “Awesome! I’ve always wanted to be in a fraternity. I remember when Gut was in one. Do you remember Gut? He loved his. I think more than he loved me? I don’t know, but–”
“Stop talking. Please. It sounds like nails clawing on a chalkboard.” Chris groaned.
“You’ve got it. No more talking… From now on.”
The study session was going horribly.
Everyone was arguing, and no matter what, Chris had a little minion beside him who’d back him up on everything.
“Chris, stop fucking instigating every single argument!” Emilia snapped, glaring at him as Chris’ mouth shut, but not for long.
Before Chris recollected himself, Emilia noticed a subtle glance down to her knuckles from Chris. She shot him a glare, and he only responded with a cocky smirk. “Me? Instigating. Please. If anything, I’m the peace maker of this group.”
“More like piss maker.” John mumbled under his breath.
“The fuck did you just say to me?!” Chris stood up, his chair falling back as he stormed over to John.
To his own stupidity, Adrian stepped in front, right as Chris swung. “Let’s all just–” He fell to the ground, John crouching down to help him.
“Chris, you seriously need to calm the fuck down. We get it, you’re strong. You don’t need to prove it to us!”
“It wasn’t his fault, I stepped in the way–” Adrian started, Chris cutting in.
“Yeah, of course it was your fault, you gay-bo.” He glared at Adrian. “I don’t even want to be in this stupid class! I only came to college to party and get chicks. But it seems like they’re all morons, or lesbian. Not that there’s anything wrong with being a lesbian!” He exclaimed, pointing towards Leota and Emilia.
“Why are you involving me??” Leota stared at him, confused. Just because she didn’t want to bang him didn’t mean he could be a dick…
“You better back the fuck off, Chris.” Emilia stepped forward, looking up at him. “None of us want to be in this class. And worse yet, none of us want to be working with you, some annoying fucking frat boy who spends his days beating up other guys who, no offense, sound like they haven’t gone through puberty yet.”
Leota stared at Emilia in awe. That girl was gorgeous. And totally badass. Maybe she’d be able to see Emilia beat up Chris. God, that guy was such a dumbass.
Chris glared down at Emilia. The only reason he wanted to stay in the group was to bang Emilia. But she just seemed so angry. “Man, fuck this.” He grumbled, chucking his jacket and hat back on. He looked at Adrian. “Are you coming?”
“Me??” He sputtered, hesitating for a moment. “Don’t we need to actually work on the project?”
“You can either stay here and work on it, or you can stay in Alpha Sigma Phi.”
Adrian looked back at the others. He felt bad, but he liked Chris the most. He’d probably call Chris his best friend. He was on his feet and following him, muttering a ‘sorry’ to the rest.
“...Imagine being so desperate for validation you’ll tag along with the guy who punched you.” John mumbled.
Emilia and Leota nodded in agreement, pulling out chairs so they could work on the project on their own.
Adrian heard that, looking back at them as him and Chris left. He was making the right decision.
“So, where are we going?” Adrian tagged along with Chris, tripping as they walked up some stairs.
“Going to see Fleury. We’re dropping that class.”
“We? Come on, you can’t get rejected one time and then want to drop it instantly!”
“I wasn’t rejected.”
“Sounded to me like you were.” Adrian said, tilting his head.
“Yeah, I bet you know a lot about that. Keep talking and it’ll sound like to me that you’re gonna find yourself back in the courtyard, passed out and this time, you’ll be wearing less than just your boxers.”
Adrian thought about it for a moment. That sounded like some sex thing that frankly, he wouldn’t totally object. “Okay, wait. Is she the only reason you want to drop it?”
Chris paused for a second, then he nodded.
“Alright… Why don’t you try and get to know her first?”
“What, like, talk to her?” Chris said, as if it was something that had never happened before.
Adrian nodded. He didn’t know a lot about being in a relationship, especially not with women. The only times he was ever asked out was some girls always coming up to him and making fun of him.
“That sounds gay.” Chris said.
“Come on.” Adrian sighed. “Give it a month. If nothing happens, then I’ll drop the class with you.”
Chris paused. He let out a sigh. “...Fine. If nothing happens, I’m kicking your ass.”
Chris and Adrian awkwardly walked back into the room, everyone turning towards them once they entered.
“Well, look who’s back. Did you finish your temper tantrum?” John snickered. Chris gave him the finger, stepping forward. Great. Now he had to think of some lame ass excuse on why he left that wasn’t because Emilia didn’t want to sleep with him.
“I’m sorry. I was being dramatic.” Chris said, not liking how everyone else nodded in agreement. He sighed. “Although I can’t deny that it’s not gonna happen again.”
John and Leota looked at Emilia, as if they were waiting for her approval to forgive Chris.
Emilia sighed. She folded her arms, stepping forward. “You just have to stop getting pissy at everything. And you also can’t throw punches at the people here. Anyone outside? Sure. But we won’t help you pass this class if you try and hurt all of us.” Emilia gestured towards Adrian, whose nose was still red from the earlier blow.
Chris groaned. He was basically pouting, looking at Emilia. “Fiiiine!” He turned his head towards Adrian, his eye twitching. “I’m sorry that you got in the way of me trying to punch Ginger Cool.”
“Why the fuck am I ‘Ginger Cool?’” John said, Leota laughing beside him.
“Oh! I know!” Adrian perked up, already forgetting about what Chris said. He really didn’t care– He just wanted Chris to like him. “It’s because you have those cool animals on your shirt! What’s that– Possums? Oh, I know a shit ton about possums. Do you want to quiz me??”
John stared at Adrian before looking at Leota for help. She only giggled in response, causing John to groan. “No, I think I’ll pass.”
“Alright, let’s get started.” Leota smiled, pulling up a chair around their table as they all sat around it.
After studying was over, Chris and Emilia were the last two to leave the library. Again.
“So, what’re you doing tomorrow night?” Chris asked, his hands in his pocket as he tried the ‘conversation’ thing that Adrian suggested earlier.
“Probably working on our assignment. But I can work around it. Why?”
“Well, Alpha Sigma Phi’s throwing a rager of a party tomorrow night. You could come… We could get to know each other.”
Emilia was quiet for a few moments, looking away from Chris. “Only if you invite the others. I’m pretty sure none of them have any friends, so it’ll be good for them.”
“What? Come on. I don’t want a bunch of virgins at my party.” He winced.
Emilia laughed at his reaction. “Chris, I’m pretty sure that Leota’s gay, Adrian’s already coming because he’s in your fraternity, and John… John’s probably got someone. I noticed he couldn’t take his eyes off Adrian when we were studying. We barely know them, but at least for John and Adrian– I don’t know how well they’re thriving in the social life of college.”
Chris’ head snapped towards her, his eyes widened as he cackled. “Shit, Ginger Cool’s gay? Ems, I can’t have a gay guy at my party either.”
“Are you serious? You live in a house of entirely men, most of them being shirtless half the time, and you’re telling me you’ve never had a sexual interaction with any of them?” Emilia asked, genuinely in disbelief.
“I’m not gay, you know.” Chris said, his tone more serious. Emilia just shook her head, snickering to herself.
“Do you need a ride home?” Chris offered, the two finally reaching the car park.
Emilia shook her head. “Yeah… I don’t trust frat boys driving. Especially not one I met today.”
Chris frowned at that, but for once in his life, he understood what she meant. He nodded and walked closer to his car.
“Don’t forget to invite the rest!” Emilia called out before Chris went back into his car, waiting for him to leave the carpark before she got into her car herself.
Maybe she would give him a chance.
John and Adrian had stayed behind after they got Leota into her car, John helping Adrian take some of the photos down.
“Thanks for doing this with me.” Adrian said.
“I’d say it’s my pleasure, but I’m doing this out of pity.” John’s tone was blunt, shoving one of the pictures into his own pocket as Adrian’s back was turned.
Adrian laughed, one that was loud. “Yeah, most people feel that way about me.” He walked past his reflection. Something caught his eye. He stepped forward before shouting. “Oh my god!!”
John rushed over. “What? What happened?!”
Adrian turned around and stepped really close, their chests almost touching as he pointed to his own chin. “It’s my first beard hair!!!”
