Chapter Text
All in all, Tony had a vague number of strange lovers throughout his entire life. Some of them tried to kill him as well. Been there, done that. So… how could he be surprised that a certain God of Mischief took a liking towards him? Let’s be honest here. Who wouldn’t want a piece of the famous Tony Stark for himself?
It started around half a year ago. Tony wouldn’t even realize it if it weren’t for Barton, who pointed it out during one of the battles with Namor and Doom.
Stark was a bit late to the fight, since he had been in Malibu with his new lover. Ok, this is a big word here. Tony didn’t want to label them just yet. They were just casual friends with benefits? Maybe this was wrong wording. They weren’t even friends… more like enemies… frenemies? Well… they were something alright.
It was thrilling! Tony hadn’t felt like this ever. His lover was… he was up to his godly title. He challenged Tony like no one else before. Not only physically, for god knows, but he was also stronger than him. But it was amazing. Never in his life had he thought that he could feel something other than hatred towards him. And yet, here they are, lounging on the terrace with scotches in their hands, just enjoying what was going on.
“I can hear your thoughts, Stark.”
“I thought we were past Stark now,” he replied. “Especially after last night, Reindeer Games.”
“I will cut your tongue for it.”
“Kinky!” he grinned at the god, who was basking in the morning sunlight. “Although I’m not sure I’m into all this knife play. It seems a bit dangerous.”
“I assumed you liked the dangerous things, after all, you decided to finally indulge me in, when I offered you my interest,” Loki said, smirking at him. “Was I wrong?”
“Have you seen yourself in a mirror lately?” Tony inquired. “You’re hot as hell, Loki. Plus, you do know your stuff in the bedroom. And I’ve finally learned that there’s truth in all that silvertongue moniker. That, and you actually gave me some great things.”
Yes, Loki was very generous in his gifts for Tony. For starters, he had brought on his doorstep all of the members of Ten Rings, the same organisation that had captured Tony all those years back in Afghanistan. Tony was shocked there, when he stepped on the balcony of his tower and spotted battered men kneeling in front of Loki. Blood was seeping through their flesh wounds, but, as bad as it sounds for a hero, Tony was ok with it.
“One word from you and I will end them in a second, Stark,” Loki spoke firmly, looking into Tony’s brown eyes. “They’ve wronged you; they deserve the worst punishments in this realm. You only have to say it.”
“Why?”
“Their lives belong to you, Stark.”
“I’m not a killer, Loki.”
“But I am,” the god stated, green eyes full of madness never left Tony’s face. “And I will do it for you.”
“But why? What do you want from me?”
“This is the gift of my loyalty to you, Stark.”
“Wait… loyalty… are you… Is this some kind of foreplay to you?”
“Call it as you want,” the god replied quickly, as he took two steps towards the engineer. Oddly, Tony didn’t step back, nor did he call for his suit. He just stood there, as Loki came to him and touched his cheek with his cool, pale hand. “But I will have you.”
“You’re crazy.”
“Perhaps,” Loki brushed Tony’s cheeks some more. “I’ve been called mad before. But I will have you, Tony Stark. I will.”
And he did. He brought to Tony some more people who had wronged him, always letting Tony decide what to do with them. As much as Tony wanted to admit he’d sent all of them to SHIELD’s prison, he couldn’t. The Ten Rings were the first to be done with by Loki. With a wave of his hand, they were dead. Loki, of course, disposed of their bodies, and after that, Tony invited him for the drink he offered him when they first met. Then there were others. Tony just asked Loki not to bring him hearts of his enemies, because the blood was terrible to get rid of from the white carpets.
And that’s how this strange relation started. Of course, Tony didn’t boast around about it. How could he? Loki was still the number one enemy on Earth. Stark didn’t want to hear all that speech from Captain America about how he’s compromised and all that bla, bla, bla.
Tony wasn’t compromised at all.
Loki never asked him about the Avengers stuff, and Tony never asked him about his little villain club either. Work was work. As long as Stark didn’t have to fight Loki on the battlefield, they were ok. Not that the god of mischief attacked the Avengers lately. In fact, one could say that Loki has lain low for a while now. Even Thor was surprised by that. All of them were, in fact.
Tony didn’t dare to ask Loki about the reason behind his new tactic. He wasn’t that stupid.
“Sir, you have an incoming call from Captain Rogers.”
“Ugh…Put him through, J.”
“Stark. We have a situation here.” The voice of Captain America was heard from the speakers. “Namor and Doom are attacking Manhattan. We need you, Iron Man. What’s your ETA?”
“Give me twenty minutes, popsicle,” Tony replied. “I’m not in New York.”
“We’ll meet you there.” The call ended, and Tony sighed exasperatedly. He looked at his lover and shrugged his arms.
“Work calls, snowflake.” He called on his suit. “Guess I’ll see you around, or you can stay here if you want and wait for me.”
“Wait for you? Like some kind of housewife? Who do you think I am, Stark?”
“Oh, but you’d make a cute housewife, Lolo.” He teased the god as he was stepping into his armor. “You know, make some dinner, keep the house intact while I’m off to work.”
Tony couldn’t stop laughing as Loki puffed his crimson cheeks and sent the green sparks of his magic at the mortal. Tony knew it wasn’t harmful, but he didn’t dare to take his chances for this joke. He quickly took off in New York’s direction.
Tony was definitely late to the party. The battle was ongoing, and as far as he could see, there were not only Doom and Namor, but also some other unknown villain to him. There was someone new on the block, but Tony didn’t dwell on it. He flew into the middle of the battle and blasted Namor with his repulsor. The man flew across the street, landing on the hood of a taxi. Tony 1: Fishyman: 0.
Tony expected Namor to retaliate, but he was surprised when Namor got himself up from the car and looked around to see who had attacked him. When his eyes landed on Stark, the said man expected some attack from his little trident, but boy was he so wrong. Namor only gritted his teeth but did nothing more. In fact, he moved towards the other Avengers and left Tony alone.
Like what the hell?
Tony decided to attack Doom instead, but the other man didn’t attack him back either. In fact, even his doombots were staying away from Tony. Stark didn’t understand it, and he was the genius here.
“See! Told ya!” he heard Barton’s voice on the intercom. “Something’s off! They’re not attacking Iron Man as well. Like last week in Berlin with Zemo! And the other day with Ultimo. He’s freaking untouchable!”
“What?” Romanoff inquired, as she kicked off one of the doombots. “What are you talking about, Clint? Stark is attacked too.”
“Nu-uh! What the hell of a deal you made, Stark? With a devil?” Clint continued, snarling at him. “Share the info with the class, will ya?”
“I didn't!” Tony protested, blasting five doombots in one go. “Just watch!”
He'll prove them wrong. He didn't make any deal with the devil. Hell, he wasn't sure why Namor and… well, now as he thought about it, he wasn't the only one that didn’t attack him lately. Well, if he was to set a particular date to where it started it was a month ago, when Loki came to him with the Ten Rings.
Nah… it has to be a coincidence…
Stark attacked Doom with his repulsors. Doctor Doom protected himself with his magic, but he didn't attack him back.
“Why won't you attack me, Doom?” He shouted to him.
“I'd rather suffer a few blasts from you than his wrath…” he mumbled more to himself, but Stark heard it nonetheless “Go home, Iron Man. This isn't your battle.”
“His wrath… whose…” then it clicked in Tony’s mind. “Loki? Loki forbid you attack me? But why?”
“I do hope his little infatuation with you ends quickly, Stark.” Doom seethed through his teeth. The rest of the Avengers eliminated the doombots. “And when it does, we will take our revenge on you. Mark my words, Stark.”
Doom grabbed Namor by his arm and disappeared in the green smoke of his magic. Stark growled inside his armor mere seconds before he took off in the air.
“Stark?! Where're you going? We have a clean up to do!” Captain America boomed through the intercom. “Tony!”
“To meet with the devil!” He answered and flew into the direction of his house. “Jarvis? Is our little devil still in Malibu?”
“Mr. Silvertongue didn't leave his place. Still lounging outside.” The A.I. replied, showing him a visual from the home security system. “Should I alert him of your coming back, Sir?”
“Nope.” Tony asked Jarvis to put more power to his jets, and ten minutes later he was landing on the terrace of his mansion in Malibu. Loki still was basking in the sunlight. “I don't know if I should be pissed, offended or charmed, you know.”
“Care to explain?” The mage asked, eyes still closed.
“Did you really tell your little villain club that I'm untouchable?” Loki opened one eye and looked at Tony as he stepped out of his armor. “Loki?”
“Well…”
“Well what, Loki?”
“I only said that if any harm comes your way, I will retaliate, “ the god explained, smiling in his charming way. “They are my allies. And they know their place, Anthony. They do not want to make me mad. They know better.”
“LOKI!” Tony protested… but… yes, he was pissed at Loki, but it was also fricking adorable. No one went to such lengths for him, ever. It was lovely and heartwarming. “Loki…” his voice was softer now. “You didn't have to do that. Why did you, anyway?”
The god in question stood up from his lounging chair and took a step closer to Tony. He brushed his fingers softly on the engineer's cheek.
“Do you remember what I told you, when you took my first gift of loyalty? When I brought you those who had wronged you?” He raised Tony's chin up, so their eyes were crossed. Loki's greens were sparkling with warmth and possessiveness. “I promised you that no harm should come your way. That I will show you my loyalty. That I would have you. And you agreed to it, Star…Anthony. You agreed to be mine. And I protect what's mine.”
“Yeah, ok… but I'm an Avenger, Loki. It is my job to fight with villains. You can't tell them to leave me out of the fight. Because what's the reason to be Iron Man then?”
“My only wish is to not see you harmed, Anthony.”
Loki smiled at him. Tony smiled back and leaned to kiss Loki. Oh yes, his godly lips were great to kiss. And he knew how to use his tongue so Tony’s knees went weak. When they pulled away, both slightly panting, Tony walked them back inside the mansion. They sat down on the couch, Tony grabbed Loki's hand in his and squeezed it lightly.
“How’ bout I make you a deal, huh?” Loki looked at him curiously. “You tell your allies that I'm no longer untouchable…” The god was opening his mouth to say something, but Tony cut him off. “And I promise to be more careful during the battles. And if I will be seriously harmed, you can heal me. Deal?”
“Very well, Anthony.”
“So, are we together now? Like you know, officially ? Are you my boyfriend?”
“That's a horrid Midgardian word,” Loki laughed.
“Then what word do you prefer, huh? Partner? Or whatever fancy word you use in Goldenland?”
“Lovers.”
“Yeah… I like the sound of that.”
So yes, they've become lovers. Officially. Even though they still kept it a secret from the Avengers. Tony's friends saw the small changes in Iron Man. He was smiling more often, one could say he was happy. They had their suspicions of course, but they didn't detect the source of Tony's happiness just yet.
And Loki himself kept his word as well. He told his allies that Iron Man was no longer untouchable, as long as they wouldn't kill him. Loki intended to have some more time with his genius mortal.
“On your left, Iron Man!” Barton informed him through the intercom. Tony quickly shot an inibeam at Blizzard. Doom and his doombots were fighting Natasha and Thor across the street. “Seems your protection is done, huh? What happened?”
“Made a new deal with the devil!” Tony laughed and knocked Blizzard off.
Yes, he was back in the business. Maybe he came back battered back home. Maybe Loki was fuming and fussing when he cleaned Tony's wounds. Maybe Loki cast some more protective spells on him. Maybe he showed up a few times during some hardcore battles with some alien enemies, helping them and shocking the rest of the Avengers with the sudden goodness of his heart.
But he was allowed to do it.
They were lovers.
And Tony was so damn happy that he had agreed to Loki's courting all those months ago.
Definitely, the best decision of his.
