Work Text:

Don’t bother anyone, they thought.

Why would anyone want to hear their rambles, right? How cool some of the swords are, the cards they collected after murdering specific enemies, or how they found a secret passageway which had some secrets. Why would anyone want to hear anything from them, specifically? If they’re sad, nobody would bother to ask if they’re alright—they’d be a burden. They’ll get constantly questioned about what's in their mind; but that’s the problem! They don’t know what’s wrong with them. They don’t know.

Why would anyone bother if they’re crying in their bed, in desperate need to cling onto someone?

Why would they bother someone who they clearly hurt?

Why were they even worthy of having Cruel King’s call card, huh? Calypso, and Griefer as well? Red and Blue are just children, they didn’t have the heart to let them get injured in battle. So, why? Why were they so tempted to call one of them?

They wanted someone to hold them, or to at least make them feel less… lonely.

Was this their fate? To spend their restless nights alone? With nobody?

Why were they even here?

Why?

Player glanced over their cards, their inventory, even their menu—anything, to keep their mind off the thoughts that were tormenting them. Should they visit Turitopulis? Vermillion Village? Blackrock Castle?

Should they even step in those plains, knowing they have caused the downfall of some people there? They were the reason why Blackrock has fallen, that it has been buried in deep snow—they were the reason why Turitopulis is at peace, but almost led Griefer to his death—they were the reason why the captain of the seven seas; Captain Trotter, is dead. Wouldn’t people give them a look of anger? See them as an enemy? Because they were too greedy to take the swords?

Maybe they shouldn’t have saved Shedletsky in the first place.

Maybe they shouldn’t have listened to Terry while they were still living in—let’s say, their ‘future’.

If they were given a choice to rewrite their actions, they’d obviously do so.

They took out one of the summoning cards they own. Call Griefer. Should they? Why bother, he isn’t the best at comfort. Maybe he’d just respond with a snarky response, or waste his time and blame them for even calling him even though they weren’t in battle. Maybe he’s currently playing something and thought it was an emergency.

Yeah, he would say that.

But it hurts, to think of him saying those to them—but it’s only fair, right? They’ve been acting shitty nowadays, right? Letting those he summoned die, letting his destructive tendencies cause chaos upon Robloxia. What was wrong with them? Why would anyone even care? They’re just a robot, some mere tool to only function with commands.

He threw away the card, disappearing back into their inventory.

They slammed their head at their pillow, quiet sniffles forming around the room.

It’s humiliating, that they’ve stooped so low. But they’d forget about this tomorrow, right?

Would there even be a tomorrow?

They couldn’t breathe.

Who knew the Sketchy Figure also sells some pills?

The bottle fell down from their hands as their body sank on the bed. It was soft—but not warm. Rather, they felt chills down their spine. How funny, they’re supposed to be used to it, especially after they gained the Icedagger. Guess they were wrong, huh? Not even the swords can stop this feeling of death.

The sole thing that they were scared during their battles—to die.

But why should they be afraid? They killed the Cruel King, Captain Trotter, and the Kitchen Wizard. Why must they be scared? Isn’t this the karma that awaits them, after all these traveling?

Ah, it was a pity. They couldn’t gather all the swords. They still lack the Windforce, Darkheart, and Illumina. Shedletsky will definitely take on the journey to grab it himself, though—so maybe everything will be fine in the end. But will they?

Definitely not.

As their vision turned more blurry, they could only think of words that they weren’t able to say to those who they met, and unfortunately had to fight them instead of having some sort of decent conversation for once. If it weren’t for their mission… What would they say?

“Red! Blue! Have you ever gotten an Ice Cream before? Let’s get some!”

They always wanted to bond with those children, after what they’ve been through. They at least deserve some kind of reward for their hard work.

“How are you, Noobador? Haven’t seen you after I went to the Cemetery.”

They weren’t able to have a decent conversation with him, but sometimes—they wish they did. After their misunderstanding, they wanted to clarify everything, and maybe have a drink or two alongside him. Was it too late?

“Oh, my apologies, your majesty!”

The Supreme Ant was cocky, sure—but that’s solely due to the fact that she was royalty. Well, at least inside the caves, she was. Maybe they should’ve just knelt to avoid that fight.

“I’m not sure the King will somehow forgive you…”

Honestly, they weren’t sure if he would, considering the fact that the Cruel King was dead. The blood on their hands is something they’ll never live with.

“If I could find a way to revive you, I would. I didn’t mean to mess up your career, and… I’m sorry for Terry’s actions, too.”

Even if they barely even spoke, the Kitchen Wizard really helped them a lot. To go get the Ghostwalker, and even cook [The Special] to revert Griefer to his original state—well, even if there were still vines and the side-effect of inflicting poison towards enemies, it still saved him. But why wouldn’t they save the chef?

“I’m so sorry… I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to—I didn’t mean to harm you, King. I just needed the Icedagger and… I ended up making the prophecy true.”

His blood on their hands—the first ever death they caused. They will never forgive themselves. They just hope he forgave them, even if it’s a little. But they don’t deserve such treatment, right?

“Kyoko! Thanks for checking up on me!”

Why couldn’t they check up on her? No—scratch that. If anything, they should’ve said something that they met Calypso, that she was still alive. Maybe, just maybe, that’ll help reassure her a little. They need to repay her kindness, but… How could they if they were already gone?

“Mayor Thaniyel, there’s really no need to keep on sending me fruits, you know…”

The Mayor was really kind to them after saving his son. Still, they feel kind of guilty that the fruits will end up rotting in their room since they didn’t eat it.

“Hey, Brad! Wanna play something? I’m free from any adventures.”

Griefer… No, they want to say more. They want to say how much they loved him, that they were sorry, that—they didn’t mean for any of this to happen. Ugh, the words felt like sour candy in their mouth. Sweet, but coming from their mouth? Utterly disgusting.

“I’m sorry… I didn’t mean for any of this to happen, Calypso.”

And they were sure she hasn’t forgave them…

“Captain..? No… I… Why must this happen..?”

Their thoughts were already blank, they couldn’t think anymore.

Until then, everything turned black.

Please save me.
