Homage - Zagreus Drabble
Summary:
The journey through the underworld feels less daunting, knowing someone is waiting for Zagreus.

Written as an impromptu gift for a friend in a dnd game I run, where her mortal player character has a crush on Zagreus and wants to build the first shrine devoted to him <3
Work Text:
Demeter’s warning weighed on Zagreus as he rose from the Styx.
“All of the love and beauty in the world can wither in a season,” She said. Warned against dallying with mortals, short-lived as they are.
While visiting his mother’s garden, Zagreus saw that a mortal fashioned a shrine for him. Set out wine and obols in his honor. The first mortal to ever care enough to pay homage to him. The thought of seeing them again makes his heart soar.
The journey out of Hell feels less daunting, knowing someone is waiting for him and thinking of him fondly.
