Work Text:
"And so, the Digital World returned to life and was restored."
Those were the words Takaishi Takeru typed on his computer, now an adult in the present day. A knock came on the door shortly after he was finished.
"Come in," Takeru hailed.
The door faded away to reveal two of his sons.
"Hey, Dad!" the boy began.
"It's almost time to go!" the other boy reminded him.
"That time already?" he asked them. "I'm coming down."
Takeru saved his work before shutting the computer off. It's the year 2027. Takeru is now an author chronicling his adventures in a series of books.
"Hey! Mr. Takaishi's here!" Taichi's son called out.
"Hey!" Takeru greeted.
"Sorry for the wait!" Patamon exclaimed happily.
As Takeru and his family approached the group, he reflected on recent events. These days, many pure-hearted people around the world have a partner Digimon. The Digital World was recognized by those of the real world. Reaching this point in time, however, wasn't easy.
"It looks like fun!" Agumon told the young boy.
"Yeah!" Taichi's son agreed.
"Leave it to me!" his daughter assured her mother.
"What a reliable older sister!" Piyomon praised.
Taichi and Agumon are ambassadors to mediate between the real and Digital Worlds. He is married to Sora, who is coaching Japan's professional soccer team.
"Don't cry, okay?" Yamato asked his son.
"I'll do my best," his son told him.
Yamato and Gabumon became the first human-Digimon astronaut duo.
"Take care, okay?" Jou asked his son.
"You'll be fine," Gomamon assured him.
Mimi couldn't help but smile at the two before looking at her younger son.
"Anyway, just have fun!" she told him.
Jou and Mimi are married with Jou becoming the Digital World's doctor. Mimi, in the meanwhile, opened up a successful restaurant business.
"Don't forget those samples," Koshiro instructed.
"I know!" his daughter affirmed.
Koshiro became a researcher for the Digital World.
"Good luck out there," Hikari told her son.
The two of them gave each other a thumbs up. Takeru and Hikari are married with Hikari becoming an elementary school teacher.
"No matter what happens, just stay calm and don't panic," Miyako told her kids with her baby in her arms.
"Aren't you usually the one panicking, Mom?" her oldest son questioned.
Ken and the others couldn't help but laugh. Ken and Miyako are married with Miyako taking maternity leave to raise her infant son. Ken is a police officer with Stingmon as his partner.
"I'll be careful, Dad," Iori's daughter assured him.
Iori became a defense attorney in the present day.
"Sorry we're late!"
The group saw Daisuke and his young son coming up to the group. Daisuke's ramen business became a hit in America. He's now a businessman with a chain of stores around the world.
"Give it your all no matter what!" Daisuke rallied his son. "Be a man, okay?"
"That's right! It's all about guts!" V-mon added.
"Okay!" his son affirmed with his Chibimon by his side.
The boy turned to the rest of the kids.
"Let's go, guys!" he called out.
With that, the kids and their small Digimon partners were off to play. A group of rainbow butterflies heralded the new generation by flying overhead.
There's light and darkness in people's hearts all around the world. The battle between good and evil is eternal. As long as one keeps the light in their hearts and holds the power to realize their dreams, all will be well. Fate is what one makes of it, after all. No matter the twists and turns, the one who turns the pages of their life is you.
